About Me

I completed my undergraduate studies at Pennsylvania State University, receiving degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering in May 2010. Then I lived in Milan, Italy for 1 year while studying for a Masters at Politecnico di Milano. I spent the majority of my time traveling all across Europe and teaching English part-time before returning home to the USA in July of 2011. I worked for a little over a year in my small hometown at a big company (General Electric), and I decided I needed a change so I moved out to the San Francisco Bay Area and started working for small tech start-up companies, first at Saleae, and now at Wonder Workshop (formerly Play-i). It's a very fulfilling experience, I love what I do and the people I work with. In my current role, I've been frequently traveling to China so it's great seeing new places and meeting new people, all while getting paid :-)

I enjoy meeting people of all types from all over the world. I'm interested in learning as much as possible about other cultures and traditions. Aside from traveling, I find math, music, and physics quite interesting, but I'm not always so serious, as I enjoy juggling and unicyling among other things. I'd like to think I'm quite laid back. I'm always happy, especially when I'm traveling.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Hosting people at my apartment whenever possible and meeting other awesome couchsurfers throughout my own travels is quite a rewarding experience. Since the majority of my travel is now for work, I find myself hosting more often than surfing. I got off to a great start last year (see stats below), however from July through the end of the year I was too busy to host so aggressively. Now my schedule is a bit more relaxed and I'm ready to start hosting again. Please don't be discouraged by my low response rate, it used to be a stellar 99% until I got busy and put CS on hold for a while. Send me a message so I can start buidling my percentage back up again :-)

2013 Stats:
Total surfers hosted: 16
Total nights hosted: 29

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I spent 2 summers living with various Italian host families. It's amazing living with people of other cultures and learning about their lifestyles and routines. Its a learning experience that cannot be found in a textbook anywhere, it must be lived! I've met some great friends in Prague and Milan that certainly enhanced my traveling experience.

Summer 2010 I went to Croatia for 2 weeks with an Italian friend I met the previous year on couchsurfing in Milan. In February 2011 we also couchsurfed Lisbon together.

In December 2010 I couchsurfed Cagliari with another couchsurfing friend I met in Prague the previous year.

I had my first North America Couch Surfing experience in October 2012 staying with a host in Toronto, Canada for 2 nights.

In August 2014 I was finally able to have my first Asian CS experience, meeting locals showing me the hidden gems of Hong Kong and Guangzhou :-)

Beginning January 2013 I've decided to be as active as possible in hosting people at my apartment on the outskirts of San Francisco. Having done a lot of couchsurfing as a student, now that I'm in the workforce and unable to travel so whimsically, I do my best to host as many people as I can. I changed jobs at the beginning of this year and now travel a lot to China, so my ability to host and plan hosting in advance isn't as easy as before, although I still try to host at least once a month because it's always a pleasant experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

All types of music, I like scary movies, and ones that are funny, and as for books, I unfortunately don't have much time to read the books I'm interested in. Actually, I'm just too lazy to read.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Fortunately I've been blessed to have experienced so many amazing things that I can't even begin to rank them. I don't believe there are any words that could be used to fully describe the best moments in my life, so there's no use in trying to capture them here.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to teach anyone who's interested learning how to juggle or unicycle :-)
