ABOUT ME

like to think of myself a student of life.
I'm also a firefighter, which is a fantastically fun way to pay the bills. Our finite lives are an opportunity to actively pursue knowledge and experience as much as we can while we can, leave the world a bit nicer than how we found it, and endeavor to become the the best people we can be in the process. I'm damned thankful for every day I get to spend on this awesome planet.
I grew up in beautiful but isolated eastern California, moved to the central coast for university, and stayed for everything else. I've received my BA in History and in recent years have acquired an itch to explore and travel which has yet to be satiated. I travel as broadly and as often as possible and enjoy learning firsthand about humanity, culture, and the world in all its myriad forms.
I believe in progress and working for a better world one day at a time. I think a little positivity goes a long way, and my goal is to never stop learning and growing as an individual.
I love a spontaneous expedition, a good book, a good beer, a good conversation, bad jokes, doodling in notepads, being active and creative, exploring natural and man-made wilderness, learning about the world around me, and having a great time doing it.
We've got but one short life to live, so let's make the most of it!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've heard so many good things about Couch Surfing that I had to try it. I hope to host surfers when I get back home and use it to travel as much as possible in the immediate future.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My sister and brother been hosting couch surfers for a while, and I have friends who've had great experiences using it both in the United States and Europe. I'm looking forward to following their leads and making some memories of my own.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I grew up very near the highest and lowest points in the United States, (Mt. Whitney and Death Valley respectively) as well as the oldest living things, (Bristlecone Pines) and the largest living things (Giant Sequoias).

The southern cross overhead in the night sky and nothing but deep dark Pacific as far as the eye can see.

Affirming that humanity is universal while reading 1,900 year old graffiti and political ads and seeing modern looking restaurant counters in Pompeii.
