ABOUT ME

I'm an American finishing up a two year stint studying in the UK - where I've had the most marvelous time. And next, I'm just going to see where life takes me.

PHILOSOPHY

Play nice, especially when no one is watching.

Interests

Above all, warm weather and sunlight (or else, I go into hibernation). I love making and building things, and especially enjoy sewing and cooking. I love learning new languages and getting to practice them when I travel.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Anything directed by Walter Salles; Tamil movies from the 80s about classical dancers - a narrow genre that defined my childhood; The Godfather, Roman Holiday, - but in general I'm really bad at picking favorites

Music: Anything melancholy really. I also love Carnatic music (classical South Indian music), bluegrass/folk-sy stuff, hip-hop, vocal jazz, and stuff like Squirrel Nut Zippers.

Books: That's something better discussed over a cup of tea, my dear.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent a week traveling among Zen Buddhist monasteries/nunneries in South Korea a few years ago. It was brief, but nothing can match the experience of waking up at 4 in the morning for prayers, tea ceremonies after a long hill climb and playing Frisbee with nuns.
