About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Being a homebody

ABOUT ME

My name is Joanna, Melboring is my home. I went on a holiday in October 2010, traveled around Europe for 3 months and ended up living in Antwerp for 6. I just complete a Bachelor of Arts at Melbourne University, majoring in vagary and anthropology. Now I am studying Journalism. I like to travel when I have the time and the $$$. I work in a shop that sells whimsical cardigans. It's kindof the pits. I also work in a bakery. I could always use a haircut, occasionally I feel more fringe than woman. I am stupidly indecisive.

PHILOSOPHY

I often feel a little bit overwhelmed by just how much the world has to offer. I like that no matter how much I might think I've figured out I'm constantly being surprised. I think the most important thing is just to be open and friendly, and hopefully things will work out.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I used couchsurfing while traveling in Europe and I dig it. It's introduced me to such a great variety of excellent and kind people. And it was so fun hosting in our little house in Antwerp!

Interests

I'm a big fan of delicious foods, with a particular affinity for bakery treats. I like drinking coffee, beers, going for a wander, munging out in front of the tv, having a chat, having a boogie. I'm into parks. I like to combine wine and scrabble. Ha that made me sound really lazy.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a bunch of music, listen to PBS when I'm at home and spend a bit of time scouring the interwebs. Really enjoy live music and festivals. The best things I've seen in the last while were dBridge & Instramental, Flying Lotus, Crystal Castles, Die Antwoord and Skream. Ooh and Belle & Sebastian and Peter, Bjorn and John. This segmentia has gotten kindof outdated but I can't be bothered making it not. Since getting back to Melbourne it's been Beirut, Thee Oh Sees, Kurt Vile and Royal Headache. CHIC! Father John Misty. Slaughterhouse 5 and Hitchiker's Guide might be my favourite books. I like the Vonnegut, and the Murakami. I really hate movies with Catherine Heigl in them, they usually make me want to pull my hair out. Here's a link to my 8tracks profile:http://8tracks.com/joface

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to learn more about 8-bit music, I really like listening to it when I'm bikeriding because it kindof makes me feel like I live in a videogame. I learned a little bit of French in highschool, and spent a month on french exchange in Toulouse when I was 16, I would love to improve, but it may be a downhill battle. I like learning new recipes, I make a mean crumble.
