About Me

I'd been living as an ex-pat and teaching for 13 years before realising I no longer enjoy it. I believe you should do what you can to make your life better and, for me, this means taking a year out to explore some passions and to see what happens.

I believe in 'If not now, when?' and cannot think of any reasons to not do this.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet interesting people and enhance my travelling experience. I'm taking a year out to travel in New Zealand, Australia, Thailand and other SE Asian countries.

Interests

I like learning about people and their lives; I'm not really a big fan of small talk, preferring to explore issues in detail instead. I also enjoy studying and finally have time to do online courses that I want to do and that interest me. I love travelling and have done a fair amount, making me want to do things that are a bit different now. I love the sea and other open quiet spaces, especially if there are animals involved.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a wide taste in all and I'm always happy to be introduced to ones I don't know, or talk in detail about ones I do know.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Volunteering with elephants, shipwreck diving, hot-air ballooning, teaching a magpie how to fly.

Teach, Learn, Share

If everyone was more open-minded the world would be a much better place.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm respectful and seem to know a little about many things. If I'm staying in your city it's because I want to know it better in a short time so pointers will be welcomed! But I'm also extremely independent, so I won't need full-time looking after.

If you have pets, I'm happy to get involved with cleaning, feeding, walking, etc.

I would like a host happy to let me be in the house when they are not there. As much as I want to explore new places, I also have online courses I want to do and things like that!
