Overview
About Me
Right now I live in rural Virginia and make a living selling my block printed artwork and screenprinted tshirts. Excited to get away for a bit and have some real winter in Montana.
I prefer to live outdoors rather than in. I've spent most of my adult years living mostly without plumbing, electricity, internet, and living in shelters that I built (either alone or with friends or a partner). My little 99 sq. ft. mud hut with an earthen floor is still my favorite dwelling (except maybe for that 100-year-old barn in virginia that shook whenever you went up and down the stairs...).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Haven't been on in a few years - I landed in Virginia with the pandemic and have been hunkered down here since. Excited to get out to Montana and have real winter for a few days.
I'm a very rugged and low-maintenance person, used to camping and living in remote places. I don't ask for much, though I appreciate everything I'm offered, and do my best to share whatever I can in return.
I'm easy to get along with, but am also very private. I won't trash your house or invade your privacy. I love having the chance to meet and stay with someone local when traveling and settling into new areas. I'll do whatever I can to make my brief stay in your home easy and comfortable for you. You're so preferable to a sterile hotel!

Music, Movies, and Books
That's a complicated and long list. It'll have to wait.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Moved to the Alaskan interior on a whim, built a cabin from scratch, lived there one year.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love teaching and skill sharing. Some of my skills: hide and fur tanning (natural methods), basketry from a variety of materials, candle making, sewing, felting wool (also carding, spinning, knitting), bookbinding, living insanely simply, living off grid, making herbal medicines.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I don't know what typical answers for this are, or what they're supposed to look like. I'm super friendly and unassuming, incredibly serious about not making a mess of your home or interfering with your schedule/space etc. I'm happy to tell stories and share/teach about any of the things I've done. I also love to sing from an ecclectic stash of memorized songs, some in medieval languages. If you're into that. I also love reading aloud. And if you have pets, I will give them all the pets and playtime they want, because I love critters.
