About Me

I'm a Medical Student currently on my 6th and final year. I've only recently joined the Couchsurfing world but I'm very passionate about travelling and meeting new people and cultures. With this in thought I decided to live for 4 months in Plovdiv, Bulgaria while on an Erasmus Traineeship.

I'm a firm believer that everyone has their own story to tell and one of the things that interest me the most in life is getting to know someone and share interesting conversations and experiences. Loving the feeling of exploring a new place, I often find myself absorbed in the cities I visit and I try to get to know them as best as I can.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To sum it up: to meet new and interesting people.

I believe Couchsurfing is more than just staying for a couple of days at a strangers' couch. For me, it is about getting to meet people of different places while roaming around their city and getting to know them. I believe that we can only truly understand the feeling and concept of a new place once we get to know the people that live there.

In a way to try to give back to the amazing community of Couchsurfing, I may be able to host some people when I get back to Portugal.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm very passionate about music, literature and cinema, so this won't be very easy to sum up.

- Music: I feel like I was born in the wrong era, since I don't identify much with the music of today. I'm very fond of some timeless artists like Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holliday, Frank Sinatra and many other jazz and blues artists of the old days. Nevertheless I also enjoy listening to some current artists like Benjamin Clementine, The Tallest Man on Earth, Tame Impala, Michael Kiwanuka and Beirut.

- Movies: I adore cinema and some of my favorites include classics like Gone With Wind, Casablanca, Singing in the Rain, An Affair to Remember, The Way We Were and many others. I'm also a fan of the work of Alfred Hitchcock, (some) Woody Allen, Quentin Tarantino.

- Books: I could go on and on about how much I love books and reading in general. I'm very passionate about literature and I adore some timeless pieces (To Kill a Mockingbird, On the Road, 1984, The Metamorphosis, ...), as well as more recent authors like Haruki Murakami, Claudio Magris, Elena Ferrante, and many others.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Interesting conversations concerning different subjects accompanied by a (nice) sense of humour. I can also help around the house and even eventually cook (I'm a versatile cook and can make a nice meal without many ingredients). And if you want to know a bit more about Medicine, I can always share some information.
