Overview
About Me
Hey I am Joana, 24 years old and born in Germany. I finished my Bachelor in Sociology at Erasmus University College in Rotterdam. Beginning of this year I moved to Berlin to do an internship at a Women’s rights Organisation and loved it here so much, thinking of doing my Masters here too. Exploring the world has always been one of my bigger passions. I’d say I’m pretty adventurous, social and outgoing person. People often tell me that they really love my warm energy and my way of connecting easily with the people around me!! I‘m open-minded, curious about unknown cultures, excited about meeting new people and ready for new experiences.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I think Couchsurfing is the perfect way to meet new people, discover new places, which I have never seen before and get to know new interesting cultures, so I can grow to be a better person. There is so much more out there in this world, it would be a waste to just stay in one place. Sharing life experiences, listening to other stories and telling my own stories is one of the most fun things to do!!
Interests
In my freetime I usually do a lot of sports. I used to do gymnastics for 11 years, but nowadays I love to dance!! Contemporary dance is my main style, but I love trying out new ones, really have been into salsa lately.
Just for myself, I love writing stories and painting or all kinds of arts and crafting haha I love making funny birthday cards for my friends! :))
Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite book is The Book Thief, it‘s a story a bout a girl during the Second World War in Germany, but lately I also enjoyed reading Cleopatra&Frankenstein by Coco Mellors or Normal People by Sally Rooney
My all time favorite movie is About Time, I can watch that one so many times, still doesn‘t get boring, but I also really like Good Will Hunting or sometimes a Good Thriller
I love the song „Easy to love“ by the Jezabels, which I can always dance to and feel free.
But honestly I like most music genres, so pretty open about discovering new songs!!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spend my Junior High School year in El Paso, Texas and lived there with a wonderful family, which I am so thankful that I got to know them. It was one of the best choices I made
Spontaneously participated in my university‘s self-made musical and ended up dancing one of the main roles, which was unexpected but super sup r fun!!
Teach, Learn, Share
the german language and culture is one of the things I like to share with you guys.
