About Me

I am a freelance writer happily settled on the east coast of Taiwan. Fave hobbies here include swimming, surfing, river tracing, reading, and cuddling my dog.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I was raised to have an open home and to fill it with friends and strangers. I have been looked after by so many strangers in my life.

I went on a long-term solo backpacking trip a few years ago, and CS was a lifesaver in so many ways. Solo travel can be lonely, but spending a couple of days with a CS host would always help me fall in love with travelling all over again. The world is full of so many brilliant people, and I'm glad to get to meet more of them this way.

Music, Movies, and Books

Some favourite books are Post Office (Bukowski), The Sunlit Night (Dinerstein) and 100 Days of Solitude (Kapsali). All the Single Ladies by Rebecca Traister is my warcry.

Anything by John Muir makes me feel like I'm not wild enough (yet), so I like to read him whenever I feel a bit lost. Also anything that Arundhati Roy says or writes is a lifeline for me.

Fave TV shows are Black Books, Black Mirror and I Think You Should Leave.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2017, I took a gamble and made my way overland from London to Tehran. It was a solo trip peppered with meetups with old and new friends, and I'm so glad I did it. Many people on CS would be familiar with the highs and lows of solo travel, so I'm just really proud of myself for not giving up. It's time for me to settle down (a little bit for a little while), but I'm already dreaming of my next overland adventure.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to tell a lot of jokes (quantity over quality, so sorry) and I'm pretty easygoing. Let's just explore somewhere or try out a weird new hobby, and talk about things that only strangers can discuss with honesty!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Would love to chat about life, and share laughs. I have lived in sharehouses for years, so I'm good at cleaning up after myself- and would obviously be happy to help out around the house while I'm there!
