About Me

I have been studied and worked as an engineer for years, but now I decide to leave every question open for myself to see if there are other choices and possibilities. It's like getting into another world out of logics and reasoning, and I gradually discover some new aspects of myself. In the former years I was too hasty to experience life; Now I would like to wait and see, with an unhurried pace.

Usually I look quiet. But that doesn't mean this machine isn't operating. ( Sometimes I will burst into laughters suddenly and it may shock you:| ) I am observing people, thinking at the same time. Finding out what underlies people's anger, fear, or arrogance, is a lot of fun.

I am a compassionate person. I have empathy for others, even animals. I feel their emotion. And I have experiences building nice bond with animals. Sometimes I love animals better than humans, for they are simple and genuine. They are as important as humans and they aren't inferior -- which is only an illusion in humans' mind.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

Meeting a surfer is like exploring a treasure.

The amazing cultural differences lies between everyone of us, in every details. As simple as a giggle, and as complicated as a world view.

Sometimes I accept travellers, but not very often. Usually I am the host. The purpose for my hosting is, talking and exchanging, that I know, the best way to know a culture is living in a local's home, for travellers, and for hosts, to have someone from other cultures to live in their home!

Interests

I love nature a lot. Walking on a beach without shoes while watching the tides and waves in silence, running on the surface of a huge glacier while guffawing, picking up mushrooms in a forest, writing travelogues in a quiet place, are the greatest joys for me.

I love foreign languages, and the process of learning them. They reflect certain cultures in both implicit and explicit manners. By managing a foreign language, you expend your opportunities of understanding this world.

Something else? Could be psychology, big trees, spicy and tangy food, flirting with handsome guys, talking stupid, local festivals..( to be continued )

Music, Movies & Books

I like folk music the best. For example, Celtic music, the special timbre of bagpipe, which present me vivid images of the rustic native people on their hilly land. Tibetan music also hits. What a race who love singing and dancing!

My favorite movies are: Moulin Rouge (1952), Séraphine , both features gifted and tragic artists; At the first sight, a heart-warming movie picturing love and struggle of a blind man.

Currently reading Charles Kingsley's The Water Babies, Oscar Wilde's fairy tales, and Stavrianos's Global History.

One Amazing Thing I've Done

Learned how to drive motorbike in half a day and then drove alone on an Philippines island, when I haven't any driving experience before.

Fighting with two fierce dogs somewhere in Tibet when nobody around..and didn't get bite.

Staying in a Buddhist temple for 2 months, taking buddhist lessons and appreciating the beauty of Buddhism.

Teach, Learn, Share

Maybe some psychological knowledge? I am interested.

And life stories and world views? I think everyone could offer and like to exchange.

What I Can Share With Hosts

I can offer you a couch to sleep, if you are not too tall ( a person with 180mm height is for sure unavailable). In addition, now I live with my mum and I hope you are OK with it.

It's welcome if you want to eat in my home. If you can go with me buying food and help with cooking that's the best.

I can provide you with suggestions on how to enjoy the city of Chengdu. I know some place like local markets, local food street where you can have a image of genuine locals' lives. But If you want to do sightseeing inside the city or go to the panda breeding centre I may not accompany you because I am not quite interested. If you want to go some scenery spots like Leshan Giant Buddha outside of Chengdu, I can help you with booking tickets online.

Whether I will accompany you or not depends on how we get along and everybody's plan.
