About Me

I'm an adventurer by nature. I left home at 16 and moved to the US of A, left my home country and family behind to become a citizen of the world. I've traveled from coast to coast of the this country and have met people, heard stories, shared drinks, had conversations, made friends, unforgettable memories. I currently live in Chicago and I moved here after couchsurfing in town, my host Jeffrey and I got along so well that I came to visit again and again. So I moved. The midwest, like every place I've visited, was blast for 4 years, but now I'm on a quest to the exotic orient. Not exactly. I'm moving to Japan next year, for the next couple of years at least, and expand my horizons in the land of the rising sun. Your life is all you see and feel, so I choose to see the beauty and vile around the world. US is now, Japan is coming, who knows what comes next. DISCLAIMER: This is my new account. I had an issue with my previous account billy_djow@hotmail.com and it was outdated so I decided to start over.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing was a life changing experience for me. I moved to Chicago after surfing the most uncomfortable couches, in a couple unsavory abodes and once in a notoriously unsafe neighborhoods, only to meet the most diverse, interesting, benevolent and kind people, most of which I call friends. No regrets, not one. The World is not ready for couchsurfing, it's is bittersweet. I advocated for couchsurfing when opportunities arose, and the response was almost always negative, "why? Who would host a stranger for free? What do they get out it? What's is the conversion rate of a good conversation to dollars? Is that tax deductible? How unsafe is it? Are you crazy?". Frivolous ambitions and egocentrism, the invisible protective walls, the recipe for success and large strings of 1s and 0s that make up common wealth, all the fragile things I neglect. So despite my desire for the site and the idea to be more popular, I'm really glad it isn't yet. It's special, like secret.

Teach, Learn, Share

Satisfaction is the death of desire.
