About Me

Hello!

My name is João and I'm 22 years old. I lived my entire life in the South of Portugal, in a region called "Algarve". I'm a lover of sports in general, mainly football (played federated for 10 years) and Formula 1.
I have a degree in management, and in September 2022, I will enter the Masters in Management of Services and Technology in Lisbon. I've been working the last year in accounting, before deciding which masters is best for me.

The first touch I had with couchsurfing was back in 2018, from a french girl I met at that time. I was 18 years old back then, and all my expectations about travel were just that... expectations. Mainly because I was dependent of my family to travel. I had only went to London and some cities in Spain.
I decided to change that, and in 2019 I did an interrail with some friends around Europe (sleeping no more than 2 nights per city), to open my mind and to see the outside with my own eyes. I learned a lot of things during that month (the good and the bad ones) and since then I've been more involved with travels.
Brussels, Amsterdam, The Hague, Berlin, Munich, Andorra, Lourdes, Vienna, Ljubljana, Venice, Verona, etc... (some of the cities where I've been the last 4 years!). In 2021 covid came, and yeah, the rest you already know :D

After some crazy adventures, I'm more into solo travels now, or with a single friend. I think when you add more people into your travel plans, you bring other difficulties that can distract you from enjoying your destination.
I already had some couchsurfing experiences, all different and all good in their own style.

For me, couchsurfing is a community of people that want to see places through the eyes of locals. And you can do that simply by hanging out with local people. I often search for people who like showing more about their hometown to foreigners. From time to time, I will ask for a place to stay. In exchange, i can guarantee you enjoyable moments. I consider myself an easy going person, and I'm sure we will have a good time together, regardless how.

In conclusion, I'm a dreamer. My biggest dream is to find truly happiness. And I believe we are truly happy when we immerse inside other cultures. And mix everything, like a salad bowl, you know? I love salad bowls, and probably that's why I love people.

Thank's for your time reading this boring text :D

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing helps you to understand how is the life from locals perspective.
You make friends, you enjoy good moments.

In this space I would like to appreciate Chuck C. for my fantastic time in his home (The Hague). Your breakfast piano lessons is something I will remember forever. And to you, Sara, for your kindly family in Verona. The way you received me, I have no words to appreciate that :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to a lot of different types of music, but rock is, with no doubt, my favourite music style. Usually Guns N' Roses, Red Hot CP, Green Day, and so on...).

I love watching crime series and other types. My favourite series: House of Cards, Prison Break, After Life, Black Mirror, Breaking Bad, Drive to Survive and... SONS OF ANARCHY (man, how I love this serie isn't written anywhere :D).

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to keep improving my english skills. I know it's not the best, but I will keep improving. Couchsurfing also helped me a lot in this field!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good mood, good conversations. I'm not a guy with big theories. I'm very pragmatic in the way I see the world. Don't expect me to say the earth is flat or that Neil Amstrong hasn't been to the moon :P.

I'm not religious either, although I understand and respect the importance of religion in people's daily lives, and how it can be important for emotional stability. I prefer to educate my emotions, instead of giving them to god to manage. Maybe that's why I feel a bit depressed sometimes (but never when I'm travelling!!!!!!!!!!!!). Jokes apart, religion is a complex subject, but I'm willing to talk about everything, since I have no forbidden topics.
