Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To meet cool people.
ABOUT ME
-I love nature and environmental preservation
-Head is filled with random trivia (thanks to late-nite wikipedia-ing mostly!)
-Adventurous and outdoorsy
-Prefer a boardgame night in, to going clubbing
-Ride a 250 Ninja (motorcycle)
-Really love lying on the beach and soaking up sun
-Love animals. I have a boxer, who I share with my ex. He's 3 years old.
PHILOSOPHY
I love openminded people who are different than the mainstream.
I grew up in the country, and nature was my best friend. I wish to give back to nature by becoming as educated as I can about it, and learning how to foster, design and preserve healthy ecosystems.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've lived in Vancouver since 1993 so I have a pretty decent knowledge of where all the cool spots are and would be happy to share.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
The first couch surfing experience I can remember was back in 06 when I lived in Korea. When my friends and I went to visit Japan, a girl who one of my friends knew from couchsurfing took us around on a lovely tour of Fukuoka. Since then I'd always meant to sign up on this website but just haven't gotten around to it till now!

Music, Movies, and Books
I used to read a lot of books when I was a kid (I think it gave me my horrible eyesight) but now I just surf the internet for interesting things. I am very curious and love cool facts. Like, the other day I looked up how atomic bombs work, and then looked up how to make Korean burnt sugar street candy (and ended up making it the same night).
I like bittersweet/weird/unique/artsy/foreign/surprising/psychological thriller/so-bad-its-good movies like:
-You, me and everyone we know
-Synechdoche
-Being John Malkovich
-The Room
-The Eye
Also some classics/American mainstream movies like:
-Big Lebowski
-Drive
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Drove on Hwy 40 between Bralorne and Lillooet in rural BC.. one of the most dangerous roads I've ever been on, with rock falls, 2000 foot drops, one lane and no median.
Stood in the conference room at the DMZ between North and South Korea
Visited a gypsy family's house in Romania: One room and 10 kids shared one bed.
The first time I ever went dirtbiking, I decided to ride the bike up a ramp over a log. The bike landed on top of me, the engine searing my pants, and I smashed both fenders. Loved it!
Dune buggied and quadded around the sand dunes in Southern Oregon. I later learned this contributes to their erosion but it was beautiful.
The first time I ever went to Saturna Island, BC: At night you here complete silence, except for the arbutus leaves dropping, and the occasional seal squealing and splashing in the harbour.
Staying at a beautiful communist-era style bed and breakfast in northern Hungary, by the Ukraine border
Snorkelling with clown fish in Phuket, near the caves where the 'birds nest soup birds' live
Teach, Learn, Share
I have quite a few things on my bucket list, including learning guitar, parasailing, taking a wilderness survival course, hiking in the Amazonian rainforest, gallop on a horse for miles, learn Cantonese, etc.
I am an excellent ESL English teacher, having taught English to students of all ages for years. I can also share info about local native plants. I know some great restaurants in the city and have also perfected my cooking skills a lot this year. I enjoy cooking Italian, Korean, South East Asian, Chinese and Southern US food.
