I'm a recent empty-nester; I am a busy working mom of 3 (grown) kids 20 - 26, and my youngest recently went off to University....I have entered a new phase in life, as a fulltime artist and eventual bnb owner, and I'm excited about checking things off my bucket list, travelling with each of my kids individually, and kinda trying to figure out what's next to be quite honest.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I definitely have LOTS (more) on my bucket list, and I'm bound and determined to check things off one by one. Top of the list is to explore a bit of my geneological roots in 1. Scotland/Ireland and 2. Italy/Russia. I would like to step onto Scottish and Italian soil within the next few years, preferably with an extended stay either as an artist in residence or some kind of hospitality work for a season, say B & B sitting (which I've done). First off this summer of 2016 I've expanded my studio to a shop (mytreetopvintageshop) in PortCarling selling my award-winning upcycled sweatercoats and my entire (rare) vintage collection. Coming fall of 2016 tho, I am adding couchsurfing and once in a while bnb openings to my studio/shop. I am planning to return to the west coast for the 3rd time, after xmas, for as much as I can afford, and am especially looking for house-sits and couchsurfing in and around Nanaimo to take courses, visit my best friend in Steveston, and do a bit of research and short term work if possible and DREAM is to get to the Haida Gwaii!

Interests

I have ALOT of interests or 'activities' as I call them....first would be art, in its many forms; either doing, exploring, learning, teaching, sharing, trading or viewing! I love live music from campfire songs to festivals. I love camping and the outdoors/trailwalking and kayaking. I used to ski both crosscountry and downhill and skidoo (sled) alot as a 'kid' but as I get 'more interesting in age', I've recently taken up snowshoeing as a more lowkey winter activity but who knows.... ;) I love to read, I LOVE the quiet....and I ALSO love to talk, share, and meet new people and be loud and cook for EVERYONE! My little dog Bu (me and you and a dog named Boo) is my current baby and companion and has travelled across Canada and back by train, plane and automobile <3
