About Me
Hey! I'm Jochem and I'm 22 years old. Don't be scared for my appearance cause I'm very tall, even for the tallest country in the world. But don't worry, i would relate myself as the big friendly giant....:P I've been living on my own now for four months in Hengelo, a city in the east of the Netherlands. I have a lovely girlfriend for almost 4 years now that lives in a province in the north of our country, named Groningen. As you can tell we are in a long distance relationship and are both still studying, so living together is not possible yet. While I'm young and still free from big responsibilities, I want to travel as much as I can to learn more about myself and different people in different cultures.
I think its very hard to describe myself in e view bulletpoints, but if I have to take a guess the people around me would describe me as sponteneous, adventerous, self-concious, curious, creative and a go-getter. I hope you have a little bit of a understanding now who you're dealing with if you invite me:p
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Now that I've taken the step to live on my own, I'm also ready to go on solo vacation for the first time! Besides the fact that my budget isn't incredibly high and I can save a lot on accommodations this way, I think it would be really cool to step outside my comfort zone this way and meet lots of new people from different backgrounds. I want to force myself more to get in contact with strangers, because its not really in me to do that.
I'm a introverted guy and like time with only myself the best. That doesn't mean I reject other people instantly, its just I hate most of the superficially talk and I get tired of it quickly. But I like to know more about other people in their life and their look on the world. My perspective on things is never fixed and I'm never done with asking the right questions to get answers which I would never have thought about myself.
Sooo conclusion, for me couchsurfing is finding the right balance between me-time and talking with strangers.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favoriteeee....
Food: all kinds of pizza:P
Music: I am a very broad music lover, but I love the Harder styles the most. Dutch cultural heritage:)
Book: Can't hurt me, David Goggins is the shit and my biggest inspiration.
Movie: Pirates of the Carribean, ''Why is the rum always gone?''
Sport: as long as it challenges me enough I'm in! Real sport fanatic over here.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Traveling in 3 weeks through the southern part of Norway with my girlfriend and our own van. We've experienced vanlife at such a young age as a wonderful and adventerous experience to never forget!
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: of course all the beauty's and the downsides of living in the Netherlands
Learn: in the first place I hope to learn a lot about the culture and the people of Island. I've already done my research on the history part, but its never enough I suppose hehe.
Share: Adventures, passions, differences, our worldviews and faith in religion I always find a very interesting subject. Bottom line: the story behind the person.
