Overview
About Me
Hi, I’m Joe. I’m currently studying in Philadelphia, but I discovered couchsurfing while living in Rome and traveling around Europe while I was there. I’m not great at describing myself but I’d say I’m a pretty easygoing guy, kind and with a lot of empathy for others. I love making people laugh and truly getting to know people past a surface level. One of my friends recently described me as “a cough-drop of a person,” Soothing, easygoing, and a bit minty.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet new people, to see places I wouldn’t have otherwise seen, and to widen my perspective of the world.
Interests
Not to sound boring, but I’m interested in whatever you are. When people are truly passionate about what they enjoy doing or learning about, it makes me want to get into it as well. Some general interests of mine are: woodworking, spirituality, improv comedy, journaling/writing short stories, live music, jogging/hiking through new places, playing guitar and drums, music trivia, story-based video games, podcasts, and the human mind.
Music, Movies, and Books
I love the Beatles, 60’s rock, 2000s alternative, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kendrick Lamar, the Black Keys, James Brown, Vampire Weekend, and Michael Jackson, just to name some favorites.
Some movies I love are: Whiplash, Kill Bill 1&2 (Anything from Tarantino really), Moonlight, the Revenant, and Exit Through the Gift Shop, among many others.
A few favorite books: A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle, Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk, the Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz, off the top of my head.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I hiked the Sentieri degli Dei along the Amalfi coast of Italy, along the way meeting an old man in who invited me into his tiny home built into the mountainside. As we communicated through smiles and hand gestures, he led me into the small vineyard in his backyard where he gave me the freshest grapes I’ve ever eaten.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am always willing to learn new things, especially from people who are truly interested in what they’re talking about. I am working on my Italian currently, which isn’t very good, but I’m looking to improve through conversation. Can teach some guitar, general music trivia, English, woodworking/crafts.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Willing to clean, run errands, crack jokes, do a little dance, play some guitar, whatever works.
