About Me

I’ve been living in Malaysia for three years now, but I’ve never really made an effort to explore or meet new people. I’ve stayed in my comfort zone, often sticking to the same group of friends, mainly meeting them on weekends and during holidays. As an introvert, I’ve found myself not venturing out much beyond these familiar circles, which has limited my ability to connect with a broader range of people and experiences.

This is why I decided to try this app. I’m looking to take a step forward in my personal growth—learning more about the diverse cultures, the people, the food, and the everyday life here. I used to be someone who loved adventure, was always up for taking risks, and truly enjoyed fun and spontaneous experiences. Over time, though, I’ve become more reserved, boring and depressive so I want to reconnect with that adventurous spirit. I’m eager to embrace new experiences again, but this time with a little more caution and mindfulness, balancing fun with thoughtful exploration. I’m hoping to rediscover that exciting side of me again, while building meaningful connections along the way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined CouchSurfing because I want to meet amazing people once again. I’m eager to learn, enrich my experiences, and cultivate a positive mindset toward life. I truly believe there’s so much more to this life, and meeting people from different cultures with diverse experiences will help me grow into a better version of myself. I want to revive the fun-loving, adventurous spirit I had in my twenties and work towards achieving a healthier work-life balance. I’m ready to reconnect with that sense of spontaneity and excitement, while also embracing new perspectives along the way.

Interests

My interests are pretty diverse, and I’m passionate about exploring new things. Music is a huge part of my life; I love listening to different genres, whether it's Indie, Pop, Alternative, OPM, R&B and Jazz depending on my mood. I’ve also dabbled in singing, and I find that it’s a great way to unwind and express myself creatively.

Books are another passion of mine. I’m always on the lookout for new reads, whether it's fiction that lets me escape into another world or non-fiction that helps me learn something new. I enjoy a good mix of genres—recently, I’ve been into memoirs and self-improvement books, but I also love a gripping thriller or historical fiction to get lost in. Although I cannot finish the books I get lately 😅

Cooking is another hobby that I really enjoy. I love experimenting in the kitchen, trying out new recipes, or putting a twist on old favorites. Whether it’s a comforting homemade pasta or an exotic dish I’ve never made before, cooking is something that allows me to be creative and bring people together. I also appreciate learning about different cuisines, especially when I can tie it into exploring new cultures. ( Doing this when I have free time, usually on weekends.)

Speaking of cultures, I have a deep interest in learning about different people, traditions, and ways of life. I believe that traveling and connecting with people from diverse backgrounds enriches my own perspective and helps me grow. Whether it's trying new foods, learning new languages ( useful phrases and words), or understanding different cultural norms, it all fascinates me.

I also love caring for plants. My home is filled with greenery, and I find peace in tending to them. Whether it's succulents, herbs, or larger houseplants, I enjoy watching them grow and thrive under my care. Similarly, I love pets - I have some Aquarium tanks at home and filled with fish. I am also a dog lover and I left my lovely princess Nakia ( Shar Pei Breed) in Philippines to my family for the mean time.

Home improvement is another area I find satisfying—whether it’s small DIY projects or rearranging my space to make it more functional or aesthetically pleasing. I’m always looking for new ways to improve my living environment, from redecorating to organizing better.

Lastly, I'm a big fan of alcohol mixology. I enjoy experimenting with cocktails, whether it's crafting a classic cocktail like an Old Fashioned or trying my hand at new creative drinks. It’s always fun to learn the craft behind mixing drinks and the different flavors that come together in a well-balanced cocktail. Heads-up, I make those that I only have tried 😆

Altogether, these interests allow me to express myself, learn, and connect with others in meaningful ways, and I’m always open to exploring new things within them.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Indie, Pop, Alternative, OPM, R&B and Jazz
Books: The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
Movie: Shawshank Redemption

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Jump off an 8 meter cliff straight to the ocean.
- Snorkeling in an ocean with strong current ( not meant for snorkeling) and only to realize I don’t know where I am anymore so I need to be rescued.
- Nervously wait to reach the next island in a small fisherman “banca” boat with no engine and no life jacket in the middle of the open sea for 3 hours+.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: As a teacher by profession, I am deeply passionate about educating and empowering others. My current role in Learning and Quality allows me to focus on improving processes and helping individuals develop their skills. I have a great deal of patience and love to provide thorough explanations to ensure clarity on any subject or question, no matter how detailed. Over the years, I’ve cultivated a variety of practical skills, especially those that can make life easier and more fulfilling. Whether it's life hacks, job-seeking strategies, acing an interview, effective management, or improving work habits, I enjoy passing on knowledge that can help others succeed in their personal and professional lives.

Learn: I believe that learning is a lifelong journey and that no matter how accomplished we become, there is always room for growth. I’m excited to continue developing myself and would be grateful for the opportunity to learn from you. Whether it's picking up a new skill, understanding a new language, or immersing myself in your culture, I’d love to expand my knowledge and perspectives. Your insights and experiences will undoubtedly contribute to my personal growth and enrich my travels. If you have any tips or suggestions about places you’ve visited, I’m always eager to learn more from fellow travelers and locals alike.

Share: I believe that sharing is one of the most meaningful ways to connect. I’ll always be grateful for your time, presence, and anything you’re able to offer during our time together. Sharing doesn’t always have to be grand gestures—it’s the small things that make the biggest impact. Likewise, please don’t be surprised if I tend to overshare or offer a lot during your stay at my place. It’s my way of creating a welcoming environment, and I believe that generosity and openness are key to building meaningful relationships. I hope that through our interactions, we can both contribute to each other’s journeys and experiences.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have a great home here in KL with a cozy couch to sleep in, you can chill watching TV with Netflix, Max and Disney Hot Star. I have a balcony with mesmerizing view of the city and a well ventilated living space. On top of that, homely high-rise unit that’s perfect for relaxing or hosting guests. Infinity Pool is available with Sauna and also a nice Gym.

My condo is conveniently located right next to a major MRT station in the city, making it super easy to get around and explore. For example, it’s just two stops away from a popular mall, and only four stops to the KLCC area, home to the iconic Petronas Twin Towers. Whether you’re into shopping, sightseeing, or just experiencing the vibrant city life, my place offers the perfect starting point for all of it. Not asking anything in return, but a little remembrance from you that I can keep will be much appreciated. Also, at least come politely, sober and respectful. Leave the place as how it was when you came, and a good shower before hitting the sack will be good too.

Disclaimer: On weekdays I am usually work mode so it will depend in how my day was and if I still have energy to go around the city. If not, I would prefer a relaxing time at my place while you also have that rest from your whole day exploration having some time to talk and share experiences.
