Hey, It's Joe here. I’m from Indonesia, originally from a small island in the west called Belitung, but I’ve been living in Bali since September 2023. Previously, I studied and lived in Jakarta and spent the pandemic in Bandung for almost three years. I’m currently living a slower-paced life and working for a walking tour company in Ubud.

I might not be very active here because the Couchsurfing community in Ubud is unfortunately quite small, and most of the time there are few, if any, surfers around. But I do check it from time to time.

I like to think I’m already an open-minded person, but it seems like life keeps pushing me to widen my perspective every day. I see it as progress, and that’s a good thing. I’m always open to expanding my knowledge and experiences. Although people say I’m an extrovert, the truth is I do have a bit of social anxiety when meeting new people, especially when starting a conversation. But I can assure you I’m very easygoing once you get to know me a little.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I enjoy connecting with new people, forging friendships, and learning about new cultures. Couchsurfing has been particularly beneficial for me, given my social anxiety, as it provides a platform where both parties are eager to engage and connect, removing the pressure of initiating conversations typical of social events.

Interests

Acting and theater have been my lifelong loves. I used to pursue my dream of making it big in Jakarta, but life threw some serious curveballs, especially with the pandemic. So, I'm taking a breather, seeing what else life has to offer. Still I'm open to revisiting my passion as a hobby whenever possible.

I also used to write fiction back in highschool, so that's another old passion I am currently revisiting.

Music, Movies, and Books

The genres of movies or TV shows I like vary from drama to thriller, depending on my moods. However, I am a huge fan of:

- The Harry Potter series
- Downton Abbey
- The Crown
- Whodunnit genre movies or series
- Surrealism

As for music, I am open to every genre as long as it sounds good to my ears. I listen to both old and new songs, ranging from Celine Dion to Arctic Monkeys. (Attending an Arctic Monkeys concert in Thailand was my first and so far, my only concert experience.)

I am a fan of The Last Shadow Puppets, with "My Mistakes Were Made For You" as my anthem!
