Aloha! I'm Joe :) I live in Okinawa, Japan, and get the occasional opportunity to travel around our small planet Earth, and love establishing new relationships with kindred souls.

I am a Network Engineer (CCIE) and love surfing, studying Iaido, and have recently began a foray into underwater & surf photography.

I'm interested in participating in the CouchSurfing community because life is too short not to live it to the fullest.

Interests

Travel, surfing, grabbing some waves and sharing the stoke - I've surfed all over Hawaii (lived there from 99 - 03) Japan, Bali, Mentawais, Okinawa, New Jersey, LA, San Diego, San O', etc.

I also love playing ukulele and singing live music, though sound better when you join in for a jam session! Haha.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Woke up today ... drew in a breath, and lived life as a spiritual being in this universe in this moment.

On a less cathartic level ... Hmmm ... helped my little brother not get beat up when we were kids.

Everything else (far away lands, flying in helicopters over Tokyo, studying ancient Japanese sword fighting, speaking multiple languages,...) is carpe diem.

I can teach the basics of ukulele, ... how to build the Internet ... how to Stand Up Paddleboard ... always up for sharing a tune, a wave or a sunset over the ocean.
