About Me

If I could sum up my life in one line I would die of embarrassment

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like the community here. I've yet to do much of the actual couchsurfing but I do like coming along to couchsurfer gatherings and meeting new people.

Interests

I like to hike and will be out in the mountains most weekends during the summer. I used to rock climb a lot (mainly bouldering but also a bit of sport and trad climbing too). I haven't done that in a while though but I'd be happy to get back into it.

I love to surf and I can happily teach people if you manage to get me to a suitable surf site. Unfortunately the nearest good surf spots are a long way from Bergen and those require a pretty tough constitution to cope with the Norwegian sea temperatures.

I'm currently trying (fairly unsuccessfully so far) to learn to ski and I'd be happy to join a fellow beginner in falling over repeatedly on some slopes. Bergen is fortunate to have a lot of beginner-friendly skiing spots nearby.

Music, Movies, and Books

My musical tastes are pretty varied to be honest. I like everything from World Music to Jazz to Psy-Trance.

My all time favorite book: 'Catch-22' by Joseph Heller

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Living and working on the islands of French Polynesia was fantastic. But my work keeps me pretty mobile and I have another flurry of adventures up my sleeve coming soon...

Teach, Learn, Share

To presume that I could teach anyone anything would be arrogant. Maybe one day somebody will find something that I say or do instructive but such an activity would not be something that I could have the foresight to put in this section of my profile page.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I don't tend to host very often. Not because I don't like having guests: I do. But I like to get to know my guests a bit and be able to share experiences with them. For such situations to happen it means that I need to not be too busy with work or other things so I'm afraid I will often have to decline even the most sweetly asked-for couch requests. When I can make time for you though then you will have my full attention.
