Overview
About Me
Howdy, I was born and raised in San Diego, California, always curious about the world and its people. I studied Psychobiology in Los Angeles, then volunteered for a year in Nicaragua doing renewable energy and reforestation. I wanted to dive deeper into understanding how we learn, so did a masters in Computational Neuroscience in Berlin. Now, I'm a data scientist and fusion enthusiast. I like playing sports (volleyball, ultimate frisbee, basketball), watching movies, exploring the outdoors by backpacking, camping and hiking.
I lived with a family for 7 months in Chile, spent a summer teaching in Tanzania, and am considering a PhD in applying machine learning to fusion. I'm an avid learner, a decent cook, and a beginner perfumer.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Originally signed up to join a hiking group in Berlin, stayed for the great community of people around the world.
Music, Movies, and Books
Big movie buff:
Pulp Fiction, The Shawshank Redemption, LOTR, The Matrix, Driver, Whiplash
Hooked on audiobooks:
Man's Search for Meaning, Nonviolent Communication, A Man on the Moon, Thinking Fast and Slow, Doughnut Economics, Eve, Why We Sleep, Atlas of the Heart, The Rigor of Angels
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I helped a rural community in Nicaragua reforest their land and grow businesses by planting thousands of fruit trees.
Teach, Learn, Share
Love teaching about science. Fusion is the energy source of the future. It produces almost no radioactive waste, has no chance of a runaway chain reaction, requires little more than ocean water as fuel and produces more energy than any other source.
Love learning about universe, the planet, most things really, and improving myself.
I would love to try more improv comedy. It's terrifying and I need to overcome that fear.
What I Can Share with Hosts
A cooked meal. A talk about science, lots of movie quote lines, a relaxed demeanor, and maybe an adventure.
