About Me

'The core of man's spirit comes from new experiences'

I'm a student in Singapore, and currently on exchange in Segovia, Spain. I'm studying marketing and communications with a great interest in research and planning *and now I'm rambling*. I really love travelling and love to see the differences and similarities between cultures, which is very different from touring! It's shocking how similar and different cultures can be.

I LOVE food. For the amount I eat and my size, some people think I have a tapeworm in my stomach. I can't wait to try the specialties of the different places.

I try to live life by doing as much as I can, because people mostly regret the things they didn't do and not the things they've done. Booking tickets to go to Morocco alone in the middle night was pretty exhilarating. Making friends there was even better.

I am writing about my travels on http://cheongykj.wordpress.com :)

I've just joined the community and might not have references yet, but I'm nice! And am really happy with a little alcohol in me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm so interested to learn about other cultures, and the different ways of life. Of course, I wanna see as much of Europe as I can while I'm here. I learnt over the years that the company one has really defines the travel and I would love for you to make the destination as amazing as it can be.

I want to learn cultures by actually living with a local. I feel that that is the best way to actually learn, by actually experiencing it. Also, locals know the best places to visit :)

Interests

I really love rock climbing, musicals, reading, watching TV dramas.
I'm currently into The Flash and Marvel Agents of Shield. Starting on Empire.

If I have a chance, I want to go scuba diving in the South of Spain!

Music, Movies, and Books

Anything Kelly Clarkson, I'm really open to all kinds of music , even classical. Rachmaninov is my favourite. Except maybe metal isn't so my thing. But Kelly Clarkson anytime. Movie soundtracks is quite an indulgence of mine too.

I love movies and my favourites are Titanic, Moulin Rouge, Harry Potter and Inception (most Christopher Nolan films are amazing). I'm quite a softie at heart.

Likewise for books, fantasy fiction stuff, especially the Harry Potter series, Inheritance Cycle, The Mortal Instruments, Eleanor and Park.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Volunteered for 1 month in an orphanage in Kenya. It was nothing short of a life changing experience and I would really love to go back. I would love to share my trip there with you when I meet you!

Teach, Learn, Share

My random musings of the places I've been. I've been gathering more stories this couple of years!

What's it like living in Singapore and how strict Singapore can be. But is strict stifling or liberating?

What I Can Share with Hosts

LOADS of fun, laughter and spontaneity! *I pretty much might try anything*

A simple meal from Singapore if I have the ingredients.
