About Me

I grew up across the world in Mongolia, North Africa and Saskatoon (my parents really liked traveling obviously) but have been settled in Saskatoon for a few years now to finish my Bachelors of Education. I decided I didn't want to use my degree straight away (I believe in the strange notion of teachers actually having life experience before teaching youth how to live and survive) so I've been working in the kitchen at a local Breakfast/Brunch Restaurant here (Poached). I also help run a local youth spoken word poetry scene here and am involved in the theater, hip hop and spoken word community (which is part of the reason I'm traveling as well).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am hoping to get some experience backpacking across Canada and America in order to do a little bit of busking in a lot of cities. My aim is to hit up the West Coast and eventually make my way to the East Coast where I'll be accompanying some youth from Saskatoon to a national youth poetry festival (Voices of Today) in Toronto this summer.

Music, Movies, and Books

I've been really getting into Chance the Rapper and Noname when it comes to music but pop groups like Oh Wonder and folk artists like Keaton Henson or the Lumineers will always be in my collection too.
In terms of movies I've been digging a mix of thrillers like Prisoners or Coherence, action flicks like Logan and more dramatic stuff like Silence and Arrival.
I'm bad at books but I've been really digging collections of essays (ie: The Opposite of Loneliness or anything by Chuck Klosterman) or poetry (ie: Sarah Kay, Buddy Wakefield etc).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I toured through South Africa for a month with a hip hop crew (Legacy One).

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share some musical talent (guitar and hip hop stuff) as well as some spoken word. I also can make some real simple and hearty dishes if I have time to get the supplies. Aside from that I'm one of those weird people who enjoys doing dishes and such so I have no qualms when it comes to help clean someone else's place. Along with all of that I obviously also have stories from living outside of Canada, working incredibly sketchy jobs and trying to do the thing where I self-actualize as a human being.

Countries I’ve Visited

China, Egypt, England, Hong Kong, Italy, Mongolia, South Africa, Tunisia, Turkey

Countries I’ve Lived In
