Overview
About Me
My name is Joel (21) and at the moment I'm in my bachelor studying social anthropology and work as a tour guide in Interlaken. Living and working in Interlaken means having the world at your doorstep because all kinds of people are here. In my studies I learn about other cultures and people so it just makes sense for me to get out there and experience it myself !! As you might have guessed I'm a social guy with a pretty big social battery but I also like the long blissful moments of solitude and reading nice book! I have loads of energy and that's why I'm on the snowboard all winter and in the lake all summer.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have been couch surfing for whole two months last year on my first big Europe trip with my dear friend Fardau! We surfed in the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden and Italy and the moments I had with the people we met are one of my most precious memories, like walking their dog before we met them, late night deep talks and big cook outs ! I was longing to get back on the road and connect with cool people and make new friends and memories!

Music, Movies, and Books
I keep all the Ghibli movies in my heart, next to Call Me By Your Name, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Grand Budapest Hotel, Moonrise Kingdom and loads of anime. The Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy, Dune, Faust, The Alchemist and loads of art books are just some of my favs. I don't even play any instrument nor can I read music but it's still what I spent most my time with, I listen to a lot of stuff and I love sharing music so I rather show you my jams in person. ;)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've done a few amazing things but what I'm the most proud of is teaching myself how to snowboard. It took a lot of time and face plants but now its one of the biggest joys in my life!!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you how to cook a few simple and easy Swiss dishes, some (Swiss) German tongue twisters to impress your friends or break the ice when your talking a attractive (Swiss) German person. ;)
I traveled and worked in a lot of places in Switzerland and since I'm a tour guide, you can of course ask me away about our chocolate and cheese and the secret to it, the best hiking spots are how the hell one can afford to live in Switzerland if you're not a millionaire (Which I'm not, I'm a student haha).
What I Can Share with Hosts
We can cook you the most Swiss dish ever, every Swiss citizen knows it and has eaten it, there's no exception. And guess what, it's incredibly easy and cheap to make so you can at as much as you want and trust me you will eat loads! Its called Älpermaceroni and we cooked it for our host all the time when me and my friend Fardau were traveling through whole Europe and literally everyone liked it, no matter from which kitchen culture!!
