About Me

𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙛𝙞𝙡𝙚 𝙪𝙥𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙤𝙣 12 Dec 2025

Hello!

My name is Joel. People say I'm relaxed, accommodating and punny. Somewhat cynical. Open-minded. More introverted than extroverted. At times intense. Maybe even neurodivergent.

Sometimes hosting for 2-3 days maximum. Write “pho” and add a personal note in your request.

I'm happy to hang out when I have the time, energy and space.

I do not smoke and rarely drink. Mostly vegan though an omnivore. Allergic to mushrooms/fungi. And lactose intolerant to a degree (e.g., milk and soft cheeses).

Please note, I only accept friend requests after we hang out in person.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is more than a free place to stay.

“Couchsurfing is about sharing your life, your experiences, your journey, your home, your extra almonds, or a majestic sunset. We believe that the spirit of generosity, when applied liberally, has the power to profoundly change the world.”

Previous Hosting:

I hosted eight times in Chiang Mai. All were very good experiences!

During my first time in Da Nang, I hosted some really cool humans from France, Bangladesh, Argentina, and Japan.

In Bangkok, I hosted 12 people from all over the world within three months.

As a host in Kansas City, USA, I used Couchsurfing to share Midwestern culture, kindness, hospitality, and so much Kansas City BBQ.

Surfing:

As a couchsurfer, I want to spend time and hang out with you — to learn about you as a person and at the same time learn about your culture. However, I'm flexible if you have other commitments. Please let me know in advance so I can plan accordingly.
