About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live before I die

ABOUT ME

I have problems putting myself into words
Music!

I am a guitarist, singer and writer.
Heres a video of guitar from a couple of years back
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFASMyHh2IE (Sadly enough I haven't improved at all... I spend most of my hours working on my voice or writing lyrics now)

I'm currently a high school student finish up my grade 12 classes (Yes they are all music!)

After I graduate I will be taking a year off to work on music.
I want to go to Yale for Writing Musical Theater but its not a means to an end so if my monetary situation does not allow it I will change horses but remain course.

I LOVE MUSICAL THEATER, FAIRYTALES/FOLKLORE/MYTHOLOGY & PSYCHOANALYSIS

MUSIC I LISTEN TO!!! (I know there is a section for that but music is my all about me...)

Stephen Sondheim
Howard Ashman & Alan Menken
Ravel
Bach
Tim Rice
Erik Satie
Debussy
Sam Cooke
Otis Redding
Ella Fitzgerald
Mario Lanza

PHILOSOPHY

Life is meaningless (don't get scared), Life is a state of being.
It is the person in question which applies meaning TO life.

MY meaning of life is to provide hope to children through Fairy tales. What is life without hope for the future? Fairy tales provide hope without grounding that hope in reality. I wont delve into the psychoanalytic qualities but they are freakin' amazing!

Selflessness is what gets me through the pain.

I often say I'm selfish because I want so badly to give to others.

There is a war on for your mind.

Music, Movies, and Books

BOOKS BOOKS BOOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Grabs box of books)
The annotated Hans Christian Andersen(Maria Tatar)
The annotated Brothers Grim (Maria Tatar)
The Hero with A Thousand Faces (Joseph Campbell)
The Uses of Enchantment (Bruno Bettelheim)
From Mouse to Mermaid (Multiple... Jack Zipes...)
Civilization And Its Discontents (Sigmund Freud)
The Feminine in Fairy Tales (von Franz)
The Morphology of the Folk Tale (Vladimir Propp)

I have a lot of contempt for TV and Movies despite going to acting class

My only exception are Ghlibi movies as the archetypes are amazing

Spirited away is the only modern day fairytale I know of.

NONE of the disney movies count as fairytales

A person who goes through a "dark forest" and with the AID of others (not DUE TO OTHERS) gets to the "magic castle.

Chihiro is helped by several people or "fairy god mothers" along the way but at the end of the day it is her who saves her parents, not someone else.

most of the Disney movies count as fairy tales. (For this specific heroine archetype at least) Frozen counts as its the brother/sister (in this case sister/sister) archetype.

Ariel is just given her damn legs by her father after she fails. The princess and the frog doesn't take place in long long ago or far far away its current day New Orleans; placing fairy tales in reality RUIN's hope for the future as it falsely grounds it in reality. And I'm not hating on Disney because I love Disney (the idea behind it not the company) to death. My dog is named Ariel Ashman in honor of Howard Ashman, the lyricist for The Little Mermaid.

Sorry for the rant but that had to happen.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

BEING ALIVE. That's damn amazing. We are all Hero's just for dealing with this crazy thing.

Teach, Learn, Share

Quotes by Joseph Campbell

"The only people whose plight is truly desprate are those without an inner dotorine or an outer calling"

“Furthermore, we have not even to risk the adventure alone; for the heroes of all time have gone before us, the labyrinth is fully known; we have only to follow the thread of the hero-path. And where we had thought to find an abomination, we shall find a god; where we had thought to slay another, we shall slay ourselves; where we had thought to travel outward, we shall come to the center of our own existence; where we had thought to be alone, we shall be with all the world.”

I Will write down all the things I currently have written on my wall's/mirror's in Sharpie. (None of these I came up with but NOTHING is original anyways so who cares?)

Not trusting in the future means not trusting in one's self.

You're Dying.

How will you have lived?

This is not about you.

You can do it.

Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success before success when they gave up.

Ten years from now?

Remember you can still sing. (TMJ blows! But I'm not dead yet so I'm still the lucky one!)

Things you MUST do
1.Sing
2.Write
3.Orchestrate

Things you're ALLOWED to do
1.Listen to music
2.Read

Sing it like you say it.

A song is a single idea.

Just record it.

Everything ever recorded is already available.

Love writing not having written

Bring musical numbers to the masses.

Follow the hero path
