ABOUT ME

I am 29. Married to the wonderful Heidi. Love performing poetry and writing (www.joelmckerrow.com) and teaching. I am an extroverted introvert (figure that one out) and am VERY laid back. I have been a lecturer for the past five years and before that a youth worker. I am the co-founder of 'The Centre for Poetics and Justice' (www.cpj.org.au). So I am passionate about creativity and spirituality and social justice issues. Most of my time over the last 10 years has been spent with young people and so NOW in 2012 I need a break. It is time for me and my wifey to go on an indefinite trip around the world- hence why I have joined this site and we would love to come and stay with you wherever. I am a really friendly person and tend to make friends very quickly wherever I am. My wife is a dancer and also loves anything creative and artistic.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is about the interconnectedness between me and others, me and the land, me and myself and me and the divine. Living to the full is to seek harmony within each of these relationships. I am passionate about discovering a new way to live outside the system of the Empire of Greed.I believe that this world can be different and spend much of my time trying to match this action with my belief.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have travelled much in my life and a lot of that has been at friends of friends places, etc. We have also done a lot of house sitting over the years. BUT this is our beginnings on couchsurfing.org hence why we don't have any references as yet. But here is a reference from a friend we have house-sitted a few different times for-

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent a month on the Thai/Burma border working in an orphanage and a month in Sudan doing the same and a month in Uganda also. These were the most eye-opening experiences of my life.

I have spent many years studying identity formation, societal influence upon this, spiritual development, self-understanding, creativity, etc. I can talk for hours about any of these things.
