About Me

Hi! I'm Joseph and I'm from south Louisiana. I'm a recent graduate from University where I studied French and Francophone studies, as well as International Relations. As for what I'd like to do with that, I have no idea. But I do love traveling! I've been to many countries in Europe, as well as Canada and parts of the Caribbean. I've also done lots of traveling inside of the United States and would love to eventually have covered all 50 states. In 2015, I spent my fall semester abroad studying French at the Université de Caen in Normandy, France and also traveling a lot in Europe. I'm currently an English language assistant in Angoulême, France. I love meeting new people and am extremely easy-going and friendly, so I hope to see you soon! I'm also living a vegetarian (6 years) and super into ecology.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meeting new people and learning about cultures, food, languages, and absolutely love hearing stories, so this would be a way for me to meet people (especially locals) while traveling, thus allowing me to fully immerse myself in whatever part of the world I find myself.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I slept in a tent in an old Olympic stadium in Munich, Germany for Oktoberfest when it was very cold outside. I probably could have have frozen to death but the large liters of beer must have saved me.

Teach, Learn, Share

As far as teaching goes, I can teach French well, as well as teach people or just tell stories about where I'm from. Louisiana culture has a lot very interesting aspects to it, from the music to the history and especially the amazing food. Unfortunately, being that I'm not the best cook, no promises on me cooking, but with a recipe and a little help some good Cajun and creole creations could be created.
For Learning, I love learning everything. I'm very open-minded and am always open to learn. Languages are my passion and I'm currently learning Spanish and Arabic.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my rich, warm, friendly culture and show you that New Orleans may not necessarily be the most interesting place in Louisiana. I can also cook a nice meal for you and even teach you about how to live a zero-waste lifestyle.
