I'm an 18 year old student from the UK currently studying and having the time of my life at Trinity College in Hartford! I'd never been to the US before coming to college so it was a big move for me - I don't have any known family members in the states either, so coming here was a big decision for me. I'm hoping to graduate with a degree in chemistry or biochemistry and then go on to grad school.

I want to make the most of my time in the US visiting places that I may not get the chance to after I graduate. The variety of climates, cultures and environments amongst the states is seemingly incredible to me, and I'd love to be able to travel around more often and see as much as I can. Along with this, I'd also love to be able to meet more people and learn about their experiences and cultures

Interessen

I love playing sports - I'm not on a varsity team, but being able to join a pick-up soccer game or play recreational tennis/squash are both examples of activities that I'm happy to participate in or organize. I've also became a lot more involved with outdoor activities since coming to the US, such as hiking and kayaking. I've visited various state parks and mountains in the north-east, including Acadia national park in Maine.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

I'm a fan of all types of music, depending on my mood - Maroon 5 (their older stuff is great!), Coldplay, Mumford and Sons, Alt-J.

My favourite movies are Gladiatior, The Last of the Mohicans, Finding Nemo, Interstellar, Kick-Ass and Django. Finally, my favorite books include the Lord of the Ring trilogy and the Game of Thrones series - I'm also not against reading the odd crime/mystery thriller kind of book every so often, especially Lee Child!

I took the decision to leave behind my family in the UK and come to the US completely alone without knowing anybody! This has been a life-changing experience for me and I am happy to say that it was possibly the best decision that I have ever made.

I can bring my own personal background and culture from living in the UK, and I'm also interested in learning as much as I can about different areas of the states while I'm here, so I'd love to engage in conversation with the hosts.

I'm also more than willing to help around with anything at all, from household chores to more DIY-based activities - I was brought up in a household where it was necessary for me to know how use basic tools effectively and how to produce good quality DIY work.
