About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Work through the winter, play in the summer.

ABOUT ME

I was born in Reading, England where I lived until I was 10 years old. Then my family and I moved to California for 7 years because my dad found a job in the bay area. After that we moved back to the UK where I finished university and moved down to the west coast where I now work as a builder which is a lot of fun. The area is amazing with plenty of great country and the ocean for surfing and diving spots.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Unfortunately I do not have my own place yet but someday soon I will get somewhere that people will like to visit.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been able host previously but at the moment unfortunately I am not able to. Hopefully this will be changing soon when I find a new place to live. Otherwise I have met some great people who have been kind enough to host me while I traveled through Europe. Overall I have a hugely positive experience with couchsurfing and look forward to finding new friends all the time.

Interests

I love playing football (soccer) especially 5 a side. I started a couple of years ago and even though I'm not the best I wish I could play all day everyday, although it has been slow progress recently as I seem to be more prone to injuries.

One of my favourite things to do is go wild camping. It is a little more difficult and not as fulfilling in the UK as there isn't as much space to do it, but having lived in California for a while I had a lot of experience traveling through wilderness with nothing but what you can carry on your back and nerve you can hold when you encounter bears (only happened a few times).

I also play drums, although I haven't played as much recently as I loaned my set to a cousin a few years ago as I did not have the room to store them :(

Freediving and spearfishing!! This is something I am quite new to but I love it. I've always been a fan of snorkelling, and I became PADI certified many years ago but there is something different about diving down on one breath and exploring your own 3-dimensional world. Spearfishing is an extension of that pursuit. Being able to hunt, prepare, and cook your own meal whilst camping is about as close to a primitive existence as I've ever been and I loved it.

Movies - not a lot recently. Don't have time for all this hollywood bullshit and good independents are few and far between.

Music - Almost everything. Almost...

Books - Favourite book of the last year has been Stranger in a Strange Land. Such a journey, I couldn't put it down.
