About Me

Hi all,

I'm candid, keen, and curious. I'm also friendly and very social. I enjoy meeting new people and often strike up conversations with strangers (often leading to great stories).

I've done a lot of couch surfing with friends and family as I frequently travel around Southern Ontario (I frequently run a rideshare from Owen Sound to Toronto and vice versa, so hit me up if you need a ride). I can do without modern amenities and I love challenging or unexpected experiences and environments.

Like many of the folk on here I have a wide range of fluctuating interests and talents but I see there are more boxes below for that.

Looking forward to meeting you all,
Joey

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm currently in the middle of a road trip. My little brother wanted to start fresh in Nanaimo, BC so we put his stuff in the car and hit the road. I'm now touring around Vancouver Island hoping to meet some of the locals and experience the lifestyle (which has so far been great). Tofino, Lake Nitinat, and Victoria are on the list and of course I'm open to suggestions.

Plus with all my past couch surfing experience I figured it was time to go pro and couchsurfing.com seems the perfect way to pull that off.

Also I'm eager to check out some of the groups and meet people in the community, it seems like a good one.

Interests

Well, as mentioned things are always changing but here's some of the current stuff:

My most interesting interest is probably singing barbershop (you know, the four guys with the funny hats). Got started about a year ago after responding to a Kijiji ad and just recently formed a quartet.

I like racquet sports, especially table tennis. Pickle ball has been what I've been playing most as of late however.

I frequently use a few different sites to seek out social events, live music, and board games.

Music festivals are great (Summerfolk is coming up in Owen Sound) and camping. I'm hoping to try tree camping at some point on this trip.

Roadtripping of course. Out West right now and hoping to go East in August.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Barbershop obviously :) My favourite music to listen to however is live music. The genre doesn't matter. Recently I saw a neat performance with a hang drum, cool and strange instrument.

I'll spare you a random list of artists and titles. It's long enough that there will be both common ground as well as interesting recommendations that I can make.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've touched a cloud.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you to sing a tag (a short 10 second song) in four part harmony. It's better if you have at least 2 friends with you though.

I'd like to learn to play the harmonica better and French.

Always willing to share a ride or accommodation so if we happen to be in the same place or are going the same way let me know.

What I Can Share with Hosts

In addition to engaging conversation I'd probably have my car with me so I could be a big help if you had some errand that needed doing or even just a ride somewhere.

I can help you with your computer or other tech troubles.

I'm also pretty handy with vehicles; been fixing my own for years.
