Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To travel the world and understand its people
ABOUT ME
Psybeat-jamming, feminist-thinking, globe-trotting, gender-fluid, liberally-minded introvert.
PHILOSOPHY
I haven't quite finished straightening out my personal philosophy; I spend a lot of time thinking about:
- How our 'middle world' does not exist beyond the human experience
- Nature versus nurture
- The resource-based economy (if you've heard of The Venus Project and have your own opinion, feel free to get in touch)
- The 17th-18th century Enlightenment, the 19th century realisation of evolution, and how, despite them, superstitious beliefs are still widespread
- The illusion of democracy
- Fashion and gender

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm still new here, but I plan to get involved in the couchsurfing community properly soon. I live in a small shared room at the moment so I can't really host (it isn't even big enough for a person to comfortably sleep on the floor), so I s'pose I'll be looking to surf for a while first.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
None, but I've heard great things!
Interests
In a nutshell, my interests include gender studies, anthropology, photography (http://yeojuk.deviantart.com), music production, travelling (probably a given), history (mainly Russian) and popular science.

Music, Movies, and Books
Films - Lord of the Rings, A Clockwork Orange, American Psycho, The Beach, Into The Wild
Music - mainly down-tempo, ambient, psytrance, drum & bass, breakbeat, metal, 80s hip-hop and modern classical (see: Headphone Commute).
Books - Richard Dawkins' The Selfish Gene and Anthony Burgess' A Clockwork Orange are my favourite works of non-fiction and fiction, respectively. I read extracts from lots of sociology, sociobiology, philosophy and history books, but rarely finish anything. Right now I'm reading Whipping Girl by Julia Serano, which I'd recommend to anyone interested in LGBTQ/gender studies.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
It's difficult to pick just one thing... I think the most beautiful sight I've seen was Bow Lake in Alberta, Canada. As for things I've done, moving to China to study at a university in Hong Kong for a year probably tops the list.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have more than a layman's knowledge of European history, gender studies and evolutionary biology; strong anti-capitalistic and pro-science opinions; and an understanding of many sociological theories. I'm happy to talk about and explain any of these things to those who want to learn and/or debate. I've also travelled quite a lot, with four continents explored to some extent. I've been living in Hong Kong for a year now.
Countries I’ve Visited
Australia, Canada, China, Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, United Kingdom, United States
