For the past years I have been mixing my two biggest passions in life that are travelling and cooking beautiful food. In the process I have learned many different styles of cooking and have met so many inspiring co-workers.
I always though being a Cook, was a great opportunity to travel the world and to learn about the different cultures. This is what keeps me motivated to try new cuisines and to travel to different places.

I am from Chile so since a young age I have been in touch with the exquisite sea side food culture. Peruvian cuisine is one of my favorites and I realized this when I worked in Astrid y Gaston, a very well-known restaurant in South America. Working there I realized I had great social skills and the ability to communicate with many different people from around the world. This last winter I took a position as Head Chef with a catering company in Hakuba (The Japanese Alps) in Nagano Prefecture, Japan and was my best winter ever.

I am a native Spanish speaker, I also speak perfectly fluent French and English, as well as Portuguese and German to a conversational level. Over the past 10 years I have lived and worked in Chile, USA, Germany, Canada, and currently Japan.

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because I think the best way of travelling is getting in touch with local people.
They know where are the best spots to take a nice walk, to grab something to eat or to do whatever...
I believe it is fundamental to create a good vibe when you share a living space with people and keep everything organized and clean. I love learning from other cultures and practice the different languages that i know.
I also love to share the food that i have learned travelling the world to get different opinions, I love to go to food markets and cook for my host. Its a way to show how thankfull i am of sharing that time with them, and also it's the way i show some love. At the end the memories are more valuable than the money.

兴趣

Everytime i go to a country, if its winter i try to find the nearest ski resort in town. Hopefully i'll try to get a job in a ski resort as a Cook. That was always the main reason why i studied culinary arts. I didnt study that to become the typical 5 star michellin chef... not at all. I love what food provoques in people... when we share a nice time with someone we are most of the time sharing something to eat, sometimes will be something more cashual like Nachos and Güacamole or other times will be the best ceviche you ever had. I like food because its a social tool.

Living in Japan a whole year round made me spend summer here. I realized im not quite a summer lover.
I try to chase winters, northern and southern hemisphere you can be chasing them non stop! There is always snow somewhere.

Also, i'm a sport lover so if there is a professional basketball or soccer team in town i'll do my best effort to get some tikets to go watch a game on the stadium.

Im not a super intense reader, so books i dont know to many.
I usually read chef books of recepies or books written by ANthony Bourdain or other chefs that i admire.
The rest is just reading Soccer news, specially European soccer and of course Chilean soccer, most of the time news of my hometown team, The most important team in Chile: Colo-Colo

I listen lots of Music, and i love many kinds.
My favourites are Reggae, Reggaeton, Hip-Hop, Rap, Rock, Dub, Deep House.
Its definetly on my to do list learn how to mix music with turn tables, but not yet.

Movies, same as Music, i love many kinds.
I enjoy watching old comedies of Will Farel or Adam Sandler, but also I'm a big Fan of all Quentin Tarantino movies.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Every travel that i have made i consider it an amazing thing that i've done, but to answer this question i would say this current year i got a work and holiday VISA for a year in Japan.
For any human being visiting Japan it would great, but for me that im a cook and snowboarder it was just f* Unreal. I have been in many ski resorts in Chile , in British Columbia (Canada) and in Colorado (USA) and nothing compares with the powder of the Japanese Alps: Hakuba.
I was working and living with 3 other friends from Chile ( We all got the same VISA) in the same spot in Hakuba and we rode together , laugh together, cook together and made the best memories ever.

They say you never stop learning in life.
I believe we can learn something from every person.
In terms of food im always asking to the locals what are the local ingredients and favourites meals.
I can also teach how to cook, how to snowboard or practice any of the 5 languages that i speak with my host.

I can share my experiences in life, when you have been travelling alone, life forces you to grow up.
They say what doesn't kill you make you stronger and damn i feel strong.
I will make my host have a nice time, i make everybody laugh and for sure i'll make a nice meal.
