Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Curiosity. Being in different places is so much more interesting when being in touch with locals as opposed to be just a visitor in a hotel/hostel.

Vice versa it's interesting to have people from different countries and backgrounds as visitors.

Traveling to me is most meaningful when it includes meeting people and not just ticking off sights

Music, Movies, and Books

Films: "Serial lover" is one of my favorite weird films of all times. Otherwise I enjoy entertaining and clever films that are worth watching more than once, such as the ones from Edgar Wright, Coen Brothers, Greta Gerwig and Quentin Tarantino

Music: As long as I can feel there is heart and humanity in the music I don't care about the genre. Electronic works as well as jazz, punk, pop, classic. Most favorite always and forever: "4:33" by John Cage

Books: Any engaging story, no matter if fact or fiction, words or pictures. "Super Lupo" by Linus Volkmann has a special place in my heart and quotes for any occasion. One of the reads that will probably stick with me a long time is "readme.txt" from Chelsea Manning.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveling on cargo ships, passing Malacca and Gibraltar straight, Suez and Panama canal, experiencing a proper storm in the middle of the pacific with only half of a functioning engine.
Also: having two kids and figuring out how "having two kids" works. Sometimes I find the storm experience a lot less adventurous.
