Hey! My name's JJ. As of December 2018, I've been in central Taiwan for about 20 months. I moved here after staying briefly with my dad in Malaysia for 3 months, and for the 2 years prior to that, Toronto. I'm into fitness, whether it be lifting, running, biking or swimming, but also like to kick back. I also enjoy separating myself from technology and getting into a book when I can. I teach here in small-town Taiwan and absolutely love it. The quality of life here is amazing and a big part of that is the cost of living. Having moved from Toronto, where one person living in a 3 bedroom apartment on their own is unheard of, unless they are either a professional or from a rich family, and having struggled to deal with the cost of living for the time I was there myself, I am very happy to offer an extra bedroom to anyone who is looking for a friendly place to crash. If your journey takes you this direction, my door is open to you.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
I met a guy named Nick from Germany who stopped in for a beer at a bar named Frog in Taichung, Taiwan. That bar just so happens to have great Mexican food, as well as a cheap, used-book store on the second floor. I went for the book store, stayed for the food, met Nick and had a beer...and then a couple shots of tequila. Nick mentioned using Couchsurfers and I had never thought, until then, that I could be offering my place to anyone who needs it, as I don't use much of the space I have here.
