Hi, my name's John. I'm a politics student from Scotland currently coming to the end of an exchange year at the University of South Carolina. I have never done couch surfing before so I'm not entirely sure what to expect but I love traveling and I'm open to new experiences.

Like I said I am about to complete a year long student exchange at the University of South Carolina and I'm looking to do some traveling around before I head back to sunny Scotland. However, I don't have any travel partners and am not exactly flush with money so I'm looking for a cheaper way to see some of the U.S. and meet some interesting people.

Outside my degree interests (politics) music is really my main hobby and I hope to see some of the great places of American music such as New Orleans. I also enjoy reading and comedy as well.

I enjoy a wide variety of music from Jazz, blues and rock to traditional Scottish music.

I spent some time traveling in Brazil and one of the most amazing memories I have is canoeing down one of the Amazon estuaries on my own and noticing with surprise the almost complete silence of the place. That was pretty unbelievable.
