About Me

I'm a classical singer (especially in the shower!), conductor, pianist and cellist from Singapore, but based in Oxford, UK, where I'm a student. I adore museums, especially if there's art to be seen.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe everyone has a story, and this is a wonderful way to discover the stories of other people. I also believe that there is so much you can learn from someone else from a different culture and background, with different experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC: Am a big fan of classical music (symphonies, concertos etc.), especially choral music (from all the great masters Palestrina / Lasso / Tallis / Byrd, Bruckner / Poulenc / Parry to the modern day composers like MacMillan / Mealor). Love jazz and affiliated music too (James Farm / Robert Glasper / Snarky Puppy / Bill Evans / Brad Mehldau / Keith Jarrett / Michel Petrucciani / Avishai Cohen / Miles Davis / Roy Hargrove / Dee Dee Bridgewater). Oh, and Coldplay!

MOVIES: Don't watch lots, but I remember really enjoying The Shawshank Redemption and Catch Me If You Can.

BOOKS:
Haruki Murakami's works
The Circle (Dave Eggers)
The Kite Runner (Khaled Hosseini)
Life of Pi (Yann Martel)
The Old Man and the Sea (Ernest Hemingway)
1984 (George Orwell)
A Wrinkle in Time (Madeleine L'Engle)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've trained with the Singapore Armed Forces in Germany.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to sing / play the piano / play the cello! Also, how to speak Singlish (which is a strange version of English that we speak in Singapore is a mix of English with local dialects and languages).

I'd love to pick up new languages, and learn more about your culture and country. Would love to learn more about art (and art history) too, if that's your thing!

What I Can Share with Hosts

My voice and music if there's a chance, but more practically, money + practical essentials for the home! I'd also love to buy food/drinks back to the home for a meal, or treat you to one. A conversation would be lovely (:

Countries I’ve Visited
