About Me

Hey folks, my name is John, I'm German American, and I'm looking into meeting new people and perhaps exploring the local community. :) I get around a bit and am often on the move looking for something new and novel.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A friend recommended me this hot app.. 'n I thought I'd give it a chance. I love getting to know new people and getting to know their story, exchanging favors and playful banter.

Interests

I enjoy many things, I suppose sports is something most people adorn themselves with on their wall here. I used to skate, played tennis during two summer vacations, I ride my bike fairly steep hills to work every morning, which really compensates for my acquired taste for tobacco.

I have nostalgic memories both about the road trips my Dad and I used to take, and will perhaps take in the future. Route 66 is still undiscovered by my humble self and seeing all parts of the east coast, I'd like to see what the west coast has in store.

What can I add to that? I love to drink, preferably alone together at a small bar. I enjoy dark beers, jack 'n cokes, shots of tequila with a slice of lime 'n salt for a wild night out n when I wanna lay back, a glass of red wine along with some italian cuisine.

I love music, my taste changes with the seasons, currently I mostly listen to Heavy Metal, Americana and Progressive Rock.

I also recently started collecting old vinyls. Nothing too spectacular, just a fun way to spend your free time on a Sunday.

Above that my interests are listening to lectures on psychology such as c jung, nietzsche etc, political debates and binge watching tv shows. Sometimes I have a drink, listen to some dreadful music and contemplate about life. Oh, what a curious thing that is.

Music, Movies, and Books

Blues, Rock, Queens of the Stone Age, Fantastic Negrito, Los Lobos, The Offspring, Black Flag, Rammstein, The Hollies, Al Jarreau, Danzig, Eminem, Scorpions, Motley Crue, Country blues, Måneskin.. whatever works.

As for movies and TV shows; Pulp Fiction, Altered Carbon, Californication, Taxi Driver, Westworld, Pursuit of Happiness, House MD, Better Call Saul, the Scary Movie parodies, softcore porn that plays instead of cereal ads past 12am on German television (kidding ofc) and American Dad.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I killed 7 flies with one blow and defeated a giant.

Teach, Learn, Share

As a kid I moved to the United States and became witness to so many things. I learned about generosity towards strangers, their risqué taste of humor, and my fathers mantra; 'If life gets you down, fear not my son, just find some leeway 'n you will figure it out. There is always a third option.'
I'm pretty eager to learn how to play the guitar as I'm a bloody amateur.

Contrary to that, I also became witness to life's great tragedies, as well as a bit of despair. I recognize I have a lot to tell, but also many things to learn, and am always glad to provide a sympathetic ear to a friend. Despite my youthful looks I have been thru quite a bit, moved quite a bit, flying from state to state like a human pendulum. I'll admit I'm quite shy at first but once I broke thru my reserve, I'm quite the character.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Casual Conversation, witty back-'n-forth play, the occasional drink, since I worked a shitty job at a bar once perhaps you'll allow me to mix it? ;) Or I'll whip us up some grub, I learned to cook a few dishes while I lived with my father.

A good time is almost guaranteed!
