I am a non- smoker and vegetarian. I have travelled widely and welcomed many into my home . I have a very strong bond with Africa but my birth culture is English . I have a growing affinity with India.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I tend to get on well with other couch surfers but more importantly I enjoy new experiences , new ideas and celebrating our common bonds.

Interests

I love an adventure and meeting new people . I am a keen reader, debater and have travelled widely in Europe, Africa and Australia. ( over 60 countries and counting)More recently I have had a brilliant time in India.
I have loved being a single parent , by adoption., although it has also created some heart ache.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Becoming a Dad has been fantastic (since 1996). Travelling and hitch hiking in the late 80's for 4 years was wonderful- seeing the changes as the Berlin wall came down- spending time in eastern europe. I also have volunteered to work with children and drove my motorbike from South Africa to Zimbabwe and Malawi in late 1980's.I assisted with peace monitoring in first South Africa elections(1994) , worked again with children and involved in social justice and educational issues.I am frustrated by the lack of accountability in government decision making- an international problem.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am open to new ideas and sharing what I know- I have helped in a few schools , focused on assisting teachers and have helped in children's homes.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My friends say that I am caring, courageous and compassionate- and a bit of a stirer. I strive to be respectful to all but will normally speak up and out if I disagree with something- and will aim to back up what I say with rationality or provide personal experience . I think the references help give insight to what I share- and enjoy sharing- with others.
