ABOUT ME

Hi this is my first time to couchsurfing, I've always really liked the idea of getting to know a place from the ground up, but it's been the great experiences of fellow travellers I've met in hostels that has persuaded me to take the leap. Currently I'm travelling overland back to Manchester (where I'm born and bred) from Vladivostok, Russia on the trans siberian and probably hitch-hiking from Moscow back to England.

As a guest I like to think I'm very low maintenance, I don't take up much space and I am willing to give anything a try. Apart from early mornings I'm also always up for a laugh and a good time. My travel plans are also quite flexible at the moment so hopefully I can make things as easy as possible for my host.

PHILOSOPHY

Always look on the bright side of life, and look for the best in others. (Whether I accomplish these things is another matter)

When I'm not on holiday I like to read, swim and attempt to play the violin (not all at once though). In september I start a history degree at university focused on Eastern Europe and Russia, though even though I'm interested in the past I find travelling to places as they are now just as fascinating.

I enjoy lots of movies, generally hollywood, my favourites are like Shawshank redemption, pulp fiction, the graduate as well as oldies like, some like it hot and the third man. My favourite foreign film is probably À bout de souffle.
Books wise I've stopped reading as much as I used to, but I still like reading a classic, A tale of two cities being top there, and my favourite modern is probably catch 22

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

This is quite hard I guess, since I tend to take things as they come, but quite boringly one of my most profound moments was back at home lying on my back in a field in summer lookinng at the sky.

More interestingly was this summer when I watched the sun rise from the top of Emei mountain in China, which I can't describe how beautiful it was.

Generally though my favourite experiences while travelling have been interactions with people, both native and travellers. I guess it's only when you are on the road that so many weird and amazing things can happen.
