About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To travel the world, embracing new cultures, meeting new people, eating new foods, listening to new music and enjoying life
ABOUT ME
We are a travelling married couple, but don't let that scare you off, we are very young at heart, and enjoying life as much as we can ( we are actually 30 & 31 yrs old). On writing this we are in the midst of a round the world trip!
We have a big sense of adventure. We love to travel, love to meet new people and are on a mission to see as much of the world as we can on this trip. We'd been working solidly for the last 8 years and decided to take the plunge and quit our jobs and take this once in a lifetime opportunity before settling down completely.
PHILOSOPHY
We definitely believe that you should where feasible do the things you really want to do,go to the places you want to go because you may not have another chance or you may regret it.
We also believe in treat others as you would want to be treated yourself, respect people and offer a helping hand when it's needed.
Try and be positive and keep eyes always open for opportunities that may pass you by otherwise.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We have just discovered couch surfing through fellow travellers, initially we hope to meet new people and find interesting experiences, when we return home we will definitely be opening up our couch for like minded people to use so we can continue to embrace the travelling sprit through others stories.
Interests
John - quite easy really... Films, music, sport, cooking and travelling, not really in any order at all. Im a huge film fan, love most genres and have a special place in my heart for Michael Mann, David Fincher, Quentin Tarantino and Christopher Nolan. Live music is my major passion in life and something I am severely missing while away, again I like most styles but listen mostly to quirky indie, melodic electronica and basically anything good. Examples would include Alt J, Django Django, Radiohead, Muse, James Zabeila, Four Tet, Apparat, The National etc. Sport wise I am a football, cricket and F1 fan although will watch and enjoy pretty much anything. And travelling, well I quit my job and sold my flat to come away so that tells you everything you need to know!
Lex - wow that's quite a list from my husband. Well we are very similar in some ways. Big foodies, love cooking and experimenting with food and of course love eating it too! Favourite cuisines? Thai, Vietnamese, Italian and of course Greek (I am one). And lets not forget wine, we've happily been sampling Chile, Argentina and New Zealands best over the last few months. I'm a traveller at heart, I get itchy feet if I don't get to go away once a year. I really enjoy being outdoors, hiking, cycling, running and I have a new found love of caving/canyoning and I'm a huge animal lover too!

Music, Movies, and Books
Films - Leon, City of God, Finding Nemo, Wall:E, Seven, The Shining, Battle of Algiers, Pans Labyrinth, Full Metal Jacket
Music - Ivan Smagge, James Zabiela, Sasha, Radiohead, The Maccabees, Alt-J, Django Django, Muse, Four Tet, James Holden, Hernan Cattaneo

Lex films - love all genres to be honest. Favourite movies range from shawshank Redemption to dirty dancing (I am a girl after all) and love fantasy so lord of the rings is up there.
Music- again this depends on my mood. Really enjoy dance music, chill out and classical, indie and rock. Cheesy music and blues an mo town have their place to!
Books - love fiction, not a huge fan of biographies. Fantasy, thrillers, horrors. Game of Thrones, the alchemist, lord of the rings, the time travellers wife....
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
John
1. The drop off in Sharm El Sheik Egypt. The feeling of swimming out over waist deep coral for half a mile and then it all falling away beneath you with a 900 ft vertical cliff to mark the edge of the shelf was astonishing. One of the most amazing things I have ever seen.
2. Iguazu Falls - the power of the water is awe inspiring, we spent 2 days there, I could have spent a month easily and never got bored of watching the cascades!
3. The first time I saw the Prodigy live - a completely different kind of power, live music at its very best in the best venue in the world, Brixton Academy in London. 5000 people going completely nuts, nothing like it!
Lex
1. Waking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. The walk was hard but truly beautiful, the history surrounded us for four days and the scenery was stunning. I felt an enormous sense of achievement when we finished.
2. Skydive over Cairns. I could see the barrier reef, the fields, the sea and it was filled with adrenaline, but so peaceful at the same time.
3. Seeing loads of humpback whales breaching, and splashing around the boat we were on - truly magical.
4. Getting married and going on an amazing honeymoon. Just being able to plan a day full of fun and having everyone you love the most in the world being with you.
