About Me

I am John. My wife Valerie and I have two sons, Evan and Justin.
Evan is a 25-year-old affable graduate in Aero Space Engineering who completed an exchange and travel program in Australia-Asia January to August 2017and travelled by van across North America. Justin is a 30-year-old CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) and entrepreneur and home renovator.. The boys have moved out but live in Montreal. Valerie is a head nurse at a university hospital and a wonderful cook. I am a Marketing Consultant who likes to travel off the beaten track. I enjoy the outdoors, (white water kayaking, hiking the Rockies, cross country skiing the Laurentians) as well as city activities (museums, restaurants, sports contests, parks, biking etc.) Linda, my sister in - law also stays with us. She is disabled and a care giver spends the day with Linda. We enjoy couch surfers who are skilled at cooking or play an instrument or are able to clean up in the kitchen. We have 4 bedroom home located a 10 minute commuter train ride to downtown. We are also accessible by bus. I have a garden outside that needs to be put to bed for the winter. If you are able to help with the garden a couple of hours a day during the weekend that would be great.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We cannot all travel. It is feels good to share and is fun to hear stories. It is also a place we can 'pay forward' for the hospitality we received and our sons received during our travels as youths.

If after Covid is wrestled to the ground you want to stay for a month and help with 4 hours of chores around thee house, cooking, cleaning, gardening, painting five days a week, in exchange for the run of the house and meals, let us know. The upkeep is onerous and with the boys gone, a little extra help goes a long way.

Prerequisites: compassion, respect and reliability. All qualities our past couch surfers possessed in abundance,

Interests

Tennis, kayaking, yoga, hiking, hockey, soccer, cards, biking and cooking. We have bikes, a guitar and a fully equipped kitchen. We like to chill in the garden. I like to discover the city and take drives into the country side.
