我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing to meet fellow similar minded travelers. Make new friends. Learn the deep things about the places I visit, the culture, the sights, the food, the people, always some new way to experience life. The kind of things I can't experience and learn about by staying in some hotel or motel in some town or city.

I live for road trips, and my lifestyle and personality in many ways resembles Jack Kerouac and his friends.

Favorite books include On the Road and Dharma Bums.

Favorite movies include On the Road, Into the Wild, Rain Man, and any good travel or road trip related movie where one also learns a thing or two about life.

My favorite music includes anything played by the Grateful Dead, jazz, and a variety of other music; the main thing that matters is that it is good music.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Some would call me a deadhead because of my love for Grateful Dead music and the lifestyle. My first cross country tour in 1982 changed my life forever and made me who I am today.

In 2006, I had the privilege of helping a 90 year old attorney travel through China with a group of his fellow attorneys. His family tried to talk him out of it due to his age and health, but he insisted on going anyway, we went (I got paid for it), and he came back livelier and stronger. A trip of a lifetime for both of us.

I currently work a meager online medical office job, enabling me to live life on the road and to visit friends across the country when I see fit. What would be really amazing is making a living out of the travel and life writing that I enjoy doing. Instead of medical report writing. But at least it pays the bills.

Learning new things is what it is all about. And practicing old things. For example, I have a guitar and and learning to play the music that I love. I could perhaps learn a lot more from fellow musicians. More importantly, I'm a bit of a writer. Perhaps there are some writers out there in the world that can be part of my writing support group. Photography is yet another thing I'm always learning about.

As for things I can teach, I'm somewhat of a computer expert, and can help you to figure out the finer things about your computer. Or if it's not working right, I probably can fix it for you. And I've learned much about travel and life. To me that's what travel is about, learning from each other, sharing life's experiences.

I can offer myself as a kind, loyal companion and friend, one that cleans after himself, stays out of the way when needed, or offers a listening ear when someone needs someone to talk to. I can help you learn about your computer, and fix it if something isn't working right. Need help with anything? Just ask, always glad to help anyway I can.
