About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Sifting through existence

ABOUT ME

I'm an aspiring phd in American history with a focus on the American West. This means I've duped someone into paying me to research cowboys, Indians, and brothels. I've traveled around a bit, but lived in Chicago for five years now. I like to take life as it comes, and I try to make it a point to not get too ruffled over anything.

PHILOSOPHY

We squander the better parts of our nature searching for petty ways to differentiate ourselves. The world is one beautiful lesson if we just pay attention.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Just came back from a trip during which I used CS to find a place to stay. Had a blast. Looking forward to hosting some nice people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

On trip with surf time, looking to start hosting now.

Interests

Books, lots and lots of books. I also have the usual interests in movies, music, dining out etc. I like to have a drink when I'm thirsty. I'm always a fan of a good conversation. I enjoy exploring places I haven't been and making new friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies - Cool Hand Luke, Bronson, How to Kill Your Neighbor's Dog, Chinatown, anything Kung Fu related, Westerns, Film Noir, whatever.

Music - The Blues, Americana/folk tunes, hip-hop, classical. I like it all as long as it's good.

Books - Haha, too many to list, one of the great loves of my life. Larry McMurtry, Cormac McCarthy, John Steinbeck, Mark Twain, Willa Cather, Walt Whitman, and lots of history books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Dublin, Paddy's, 2005. If you've never seen an entire city come out to party, check it out.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to learn about the local culture in the places I travel.

I can tell great stories, and being a historian, they are usually great stories that actually happened.

Countries I’ve Visited

Ireland

Countries I’ve Lived In
