About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To semi-boldly go where countless numbers have gone before

ABOUT ME

Instead of waiting till I was 40, I've conducted a pre-emptive strike against Mid-life crises', and so I quit my job and I'm doing some travelling.

Back home I enjoy sipping Gin and Tonic like any good gent should.

PHILOSOPHY

Mo' money mo' problems...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Having heard about Couch Surfing from other travellers, I want to experience it for myself before I get home, and then hope I can return the hospitality by hosting people in my home town, and showing them what I think is good about my city.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: I like a good mix of fiction and more challenging non fiction works. 1984 would be my all time favourite novel. Modern authors I like are David Peace and Cormac McCarthy.

Music: Varied, old stuff like Sabbath, Creedence, Doors; and 80's hardcorepunk like Black Flag, Minor Threat etc; and I guess a fair bit of indie too. A bit of a sprinkling of electronic, country, jazz (ish), drone and some other stuff.

Movies: Not much into horror films, but most other genres.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've just come back from a trip to the very Western part of Mongolia - going out Eagle hunting with Kazak nomadic families - something Marco Polo did about 800 years ago. It was -50, it was hard going (more the bus ride with 40 Mongolians than the riding up and down mountains) but really wild.

Countries I’ve Visited

Cambodia, China, Iceland, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Russian Federation, Thailand, United States, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In

United Kingdom
