About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Building a website for truckers to download etc. while on the road, own a cleaning company and some rental property, and support an RV mission through Mexico and South America to find the Chupacabra Monster @ www.benandjoe.com. www.roadtales.com.

ABOUT ME

I am an ex wilderness instructor who ran behvioral health stuff for years..it was freaking nuts...and then I had two boys who live in Lubbock so I do too. There are no mountains, no oceans etc. so I do web stuff, clean offices and houses through employeess and drive an oil truck through the 6666 ranch and Pitchfork at night for fun. All do ok but...my kids inherited there Dad's spending gene and go through it as fast I can earn so I travel when I can but not that much. I see couch surfing as a chance to meet cool people who are not from here. People here are nice but very culturally one dimensional. Couch surfers could be cool. If you are not nice please do not apply. Polite is all that is required for me to help all I can. Rude may end the relationship instantly.

PHILOSOPHY

Ugly maybe beautiful, pretty never. (and yes I was at that art show, my favorite thing to say at a horrible opening) but at least a mop don't flop the same way twice.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I put folks up in a studio apartment or in my office/loft with couches and bed or at my home which is actually rented right now while I build a new one. All are pretty cool and I think kinda unique. I have been a lot of places. All are located near Texas Tech.

Interests

From 1990 to 1995 b.c. (before couch surfing or AOL) I ran a wagon train through all forty-eight states with delinquent kids, staff, mules etc. Climbed most U.S. mountains and floated most rivers. I don't run anywhere and only hike out when left behind. It has cost me a few relationships but I just don't see the point! I do like long walks home. I will ride bikes but only in regular shorts. It is not a shy thing but pure fashion. I don't drink but like girls who do and that wear bike shorts, skirts, shirts, etc.

Music, Movies, and Books

All books, Music-alternative so I still feel cool, and I guess all that means now is alternative to the radio because you buy it all. For years it was cool if you stole it and I don't even know how anymore. I enjoy some movies buy don't remember a great one. I am no big critic, I like the Unbearable Lightness of Being and laughed too hard at American Pie 2.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Wagon trains, cattle drive from Ft. Worth to Miles City, Montana ala Lonesome Dove and tons of other smaller trips. I was in San Francisco when U2 played the roof of a building without notice. Town went crazy and all bridges jammed.

Teach, Learn, Share

I went to freshman nationals for debate and stayed with two of the smartest, coolest people I had ever met at the time on there couch. It was a great experience but I have never forgot it. Since then I may have learned a few things that might be helpful to travelers.
