ABOUT ME

I have lived the majority of my life in the central united states, not far from the rocky mountains. I have also lived in alaska and a few states in the mid west. I am very into the outdoors and love backpacking in the woods and am willing to camp just about anywhere. I am very easy going, and although i am a bit of a mountain man i love the culture and night life of the cities. I enjoy reading and watching movies, but i really love going to live music shows. I was able to catch the telluride bluegrass festival in 2011.

For several years after college i traveled off and on, or in between jobs, however you want to put it. That came to an end when i decided to get an actual engineering career. It went well, and enjoyed my professional career, but at heart i am a wanderer, and I recently quit my job and am ready to see new parts of the world and experience new cultures.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am new to couch surfing and although i have probably slept on more couches than is reasonably healthy, i have not done so though this site. i am looking forward to meeting new people and experiencing new cultures.

Interests

backpacking, camping, fishing, math and engineering, seeing new places and cultures, movies, books, music. pretty much the same stuff as everyone else i think. currently learning the guitar and spanish. i have not been doing either for very long, and lastly, despite my track record, i really enjoy working. I like staying busy when i am not traveling.

Music, Movies, and Books

books: i like a lot of classic literature, and i don't care if it is from the US or not. i enjoy reading depression era novels for some reason, but i can't figure out why. every once in a while i will read a science fiction book, and frequently read comical books and westerns.

Music: rock, bluegrass, reggae, folk, alternative, blues. i am very open to new music and enjoy seeing new bands in small venues.

Movies: just about anything, but i generally tend to watch comedies. I also like B grade movies and indie films.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

backpacked 500 miles, or 30 days, along the continental divide in the colorado rocky mountains.

lived in virtual isolation in prince william sound alaska with no running water, and very little electricity.
