About Me

CURRENT MISSION

seeking personal and professional growth. Trying to figure out what the hell to do with my life

ABOUT ME

I'm generally a friendly person who is interested in other people and what drives them. I like going new places, and also old places. I'm looking for a grand purpose for my life but if I don't find it, it's okay, because I have a good life with good friends. :) I try to be somewhat creative with how I live my life, but I'll never be a bohemian.

I strive to be respectful of others and hope I get the same in return! Also I am gay.

PHILOSOPHY

Pursue your passions (follow your bliss?). Live ethically and love deeply. And try to be open to people, they're all interesting if you give them a chance.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm brand new to couch surfing, referred by a friend in Chicago, who swears by it. I'll be in Amsterdam for the next few months and am looking to explore other parts of Europe, so am hopeful that Couch Surfing can both make that affordable and also give me an opportunity to meet people. I like traveling but it's really not the same when you don't know anyone local.

Interests

I like to play tennis and volleyball. I like to go to concerts and plays and sporting events. I love playing games (especially the card game euchre, very specific to the Midwest USA). I have always had interests in geography, history, politics, and cultures. I like the internet, but also hate it. I enjoy having a beer with friends or strangers and just shooting the breeze.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm in a book club and really like it. Tend to like basic fiction, also some genre (especially mystery), although some of my favorite books are non-fiction. Studies of pop culture/cultural trends are interesting to me, as are cultural histories. I love documentaries and a wide variety of movies, although lately I've been unimpressed by most movies I've seen. Off the top of my head I would name Tootsie as my all-time favorite movie.

TV wise I like Glee, Modern Family, Hoarders, Family Guy, Lost, Gilligan's Island, and St. Elsewhere. And several more.

Teach, Learn, Share

I don't really have any specialized skill or knowledge. Perhaps I'm afraid of being pigeonholed. Plus, learning is hard! But I am interested in the dynamics of places, and what drives people. And I'm sure if you dig into my brain for long enough I'll have something in there that you never knew or even knew that you wanted to know! And vice versa!

Countries I’ve Visited

France, Italy, Spain, Venezuela
