About Me

A home-stay person who loves to travel. I know, it's a weird combination.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing experience:

Most of my CS adventures were wonderful. People made my stay at their homes just amazing. I'm so grateful that this website exists.

I like to host people as well. I'm not a perfect guide, but I would be happy to show you around all the vintage and creepy places in the city. But please be prepared: all my guests get a fresh smoothie in the morning! :)

Interests

I like the feeling of freedom, gentle light, cultural differences, espresso in the morning and vintage stuff.
That's why I still shoot film using the old analog gem. I always travel with my camera and a backpack, hitch-hike pretty often, spend nights under the stars or at locals’ places.
I want to have my pictures as authentic and simple as real life is.
Love for traditional photography began much earlier than I started taking pictures. I watched photographers, often critically looked at their pictures until I finally realized that I want to start my adventure with analogs. The first camera I took was the old Zenith that belonged to my aunt, but unfortunately, it went out of work after shooting two films. But still, it was like love at first sight so I immediately started to look for a new one.

During my hitch-hiking trip through Europe, Barcelona was one of the destinations. There were so many tourists! I was walking with my camera and decided to go somewhere 'away from the center' to find a peaceful spot and then I realized that I already have a name for my travel photo-project. That's how it all started. The camera is like my second eye and discovers any new place with me. Now I feel like I can see more.

After that, I started to write a blog about my analog journeys:

But the most important thing I can say for sure is that I really love to travel and surf couches of the awesome users of CS community! Wanna be my guest? Feel free to send me a request.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like old stuff the most! Bands like Fleetwood Mac (my absolutely favourite), Patti Smith (I love her both singing and writing), Stevie Nicks, Tom Petty, Mazzy Star, The Smiths, Dire Straits, Pink Floyd, Joy Division, polish band Breakout, but I also enjoy: Alt-J, Archive, Alex Turner, Eddie Veder, Yasmine Hamdan and lot of Scandinavian artist like Olafur Arnalds, Sigur Ros, Lykke Li, Molly Nilsson, The Knife, Björk.

And... Krishna mantras. ;) (nothing else feels so relaxing!)

Books: mostly travel reportage (Kapuściński and Terzani are ones of my favorite authors).

Movies? Oh, there are so many! Please check my filmweb profile if interested http://www.filmweb.pl/user/jollis91

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Summer 2014: a hitch-hiking trip from Germany to Portugal. 6 weeks on the road, the distance of 7000 km, 5 visited countries, 71 cars, so much love, lot of pictures, many cheerful people met on the way and incredible freedom.

Since then I hitch-hiked across my beautiful Poland, Georgia, Armenia, Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovakia and Romania, took a lot of pictures, shared many stories and met beautiful strangers while being on the road.
To be continued.

2016: I spent 4 months in wonderful Indonesia, living with a traditional family, volunteering in Indonesian Kindergarten and exploring the diversity of this beautiful island country.
