Hey there. My name is Jon, and I'm originally from Winnipeg, right in the middle of Canada. I have lived in Melbourne for the past 7 years and will be moving back to Winnipeg sometime in 2023. When I’m settled I will hopefully be in a position to host guests!

I work in sustainability under a government energy subsidy program in Australia. I am also a professional freelance musician and music teacher. I have been fortunate to play music all over Canada and Australia and teach my passion to the next generation of musicians.

I am outgoing and sociable and am always down for a hang.

I am on couch surfing to meet other amazing people, share our stories and life experiences, and make new friends.

I value spending quality time with locals in the places I travel, finding out who they are, what they do, leaning about their lives and cultures. I want to go where the locals go, eat where the locals eat, and find out where their favourite places are.

my musical tastes vary widely but currently a lot of modern funk & soul, indie folk, and indie pop. I could talk about music all day.

I am a huge lover of books, though need to get back to reading regularly. A few of my favourite authors include Tom Robbins, John Steinbeck, Kurt Vonnegut, John Irving.

I love weird, heady, or other strange concept or original movies that make you think.. and all the “adult” animated series like Bojack Horseman, Big Mouth, Rick & Morty etc…

What I can share with hosts is the company of a respectful young(ish) adventurous Canadian eager to see the world, and experience it the local way.

I am very friendly (like a good Canadian boy), outgoing and easy to talk to. I love talking with people and finding out about who they are, share a good story, laugh and share meal with just about anybody. I don't just want a place to stay, I want to get to know the people I'm staying with, hoping to take a away a positive lasting experience, and hopefully leave one for hosts as well.

Oh, and if you happen to have some musical instruments lying around I am always down for a jam! I can also maybe teach you a few things (especially if they are drums :P)

Oh, also, I love to cook, you teach me your delicious recipes, and i'll help you cook them!
